Encouraging Optimization of the Role of the Regional Government to Eradicate KST Papua

Optimizing the role carried out by all apparatus and government agencies or institutions up to the local Regional Government (Pemda) in eradicating Papuan Separatist and Terrorist Groups (KST) is indeed a very important thing to do and should be fully supported by all people in Indonesia .
Some time ago KST Papua returned to carrying out their cruel and barbaric actions by shooting at a number of members of the Flag Raising Troop (Paskibra) who were undergoing training at Trikora Field, Ilaga District, Central Papua Province.
The terror carried out by the separatist group on Cenderawasih Earth occurred since Saturday, August 19 2023, in the morning. Then, after shooting the Paskibra, in the afternoon they resumed their criminal action by setting fire to the Base Transceiver Station (BTS) tower and residents’ homes.
As a result of this incident, the indigenous people of Papua (OAP) became very afraid. However, the security forces from the joint personnel of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and the Indonesian National Police (Polri) immediately moved very quickly and responsively in their efforts to dispel the KST Papua action.
This tense situation did not only occur in the Ilaga District, but also in the Gome District, Central Papua. In that area even gunfire took place, especially after the separatist group attacked personnel at the Gome Post.
KST attacked the Satgas Mobile Yon 7 Marines in Dekai District, Yahukimo, Highlands Papua last Monday (21/8). As a result, one member of the Marine Corps Mobile Yon 7 Marines, Agung Pramudi Laksono, was shot dead by KST. Regarding this matter, the Dandim 1715 Yahukimo Lt. Col. Inf Tommy Yudistyo suspected that the cause of the gunfire was because KST was not happy with the construction of the TNI-Polri Task Force post in the area.
Most recently, KST shot a civilian in Ilaga Papua named Lukman Ahmad on Wednesday (23/8) around 18.40 WIT. Apart from shooting residents, KST also burned a rice warehouse owned by the Puncak Regency Government.
Political Analyst Karel Susetyo revealed that it is indeed very important to be able to eradicate Separatist and Terrorist Groups in Cenderawasih Earth so that all parties and related stakeholders can cooperate.
This is because all state apparatus, including the local regional governments, must continue to make every effort to be able to participate in protecting and maintaining the integrity of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI).
So far, the entire security apparatus, from the ranks of joint personnel including the TNI, Polri to the State Intelligence Agency (BIN), have continued and have worked optimally and to the maximum extent possible, even risking their safety and their lives. Of course, this should also be assisted by all other elements of the nation by increasing well-integrated cooperation.
Then, it is fitting for the Ministry of Home Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia (Kemendagri RI) to pay even more attention to coaching efforts for all of their apparatus, especially in Cenderawasih Earth, including the ranks of the local government.
Because, with reinforcing and also good integration or cooperation from all parties and all elements of society, even including all levels of the state apparatus down to the regional level, it will certainly be able to be even more optimal in a series of efforts to break the chain of conflict what happened in the Land of Papua.
It should also be noted that indeed efforts to resolve all the problems that occurred in Cenderawasih Earth were one of the most important priorities carried out by the Government of the Republic of Indonesia (RI) during the leadership of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi).
So, this means that efforts to end all conflicts that have occurred in Papua, especially those caused by various kinds of terror carried out by KST, must be able to involve all elements of the apparatus and also all institutions and government agencies, not just the security forces.
The reason is, with maximum involvement and integration from all levels of apparatus to institutions and all government agencies that are able to work together very well, it will be urgently needed to be able to solve the problems that occur in Cenderawasih Earth in a much more comprehensive manner.
On the other hand, if it turns out that government institutions, such as in the regional areas, seem to be indifferent, of course the problems that are occurring in Papua will continue and become even more difficult to resolve. So it is indeed very important for all stakeholders to be able to resolve conflicts resulting from the Papua KST in a much more comprehensive way.
For this reason, it is absolutely undeniable that the role played by the local Regional Governments (Pemda) in carrying out their efforts to eradicate KST Papua is very important. Their presence will certainly make the eradication of the separatist gang far more optimal and maximal.
