Security forces continue to work optimally in protecting the Papuan people from the cruelty of the Papuan Separatist and Terrorist Group (KST). One of these actions was measured firm action against KST in Ilaga Regency to Fakfak Regency.

So far, all security forces from the joint forces consisting of personnel from the Indonesian National Army (TNI), the State Intelligence Agency
(BIN) and also the Indonesian National Police (Polri) have continued to take firm and measurable action against KST in Papua.

This was proven by the firm action taken by joint forces in Ilaga Regency against KST who burned down the house of Health Workers (Nakes) in Ilaga Regency. Meanwhile in Fakfak Regency, West Papua Province, the Joint Forces took firm action against 4 (four) members of the separatist gang in Bumi Cenderawasih.

Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit (Kasat Reskrim) of the Fakfak Resort Police (Polres), First Police Inspector (Iptu) Arif Usman Rumra said that his party did not immediately take action to carry out the shooting, but rather they had tried to take a persuasive approach first.

However, the persuasive approach that was taken by the security forces, KST Papua completely ignored it, and then they actually carried out attacks on the officers. It is known that a group of terrorists in the easternmost province in the country attacked police officers, even though they had previously been given two (2) warning shots.

Not only there, but the perpetrators actually attacked members of the Mobile Brigade (Brimob) by slashing and targeting the heads of the security forces. But fortunately, with all the optimal training so far, the Brimob member’s dexterity succeeded in repelling the KST attack by parrying it with his left hand.

As a result, after repelling the stabs carried out by the separatist gang, the police officer suffered a slash wound on his left elbow. Therefore, knowing how criminal acts were actually carried out by KST Papua after the security forces tried to take a persuasive approach and had given warning shots, in the end firm and measurable action was taken in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) against the gang.

For information, the police officer who became the victim was Police Brigadier Two (Bripda) HFW, who is a member of the Bintuni Bay Mobile Brigade. Currently his condition is being referred for further treatment at the West Papua Regional Police (Polda) Bhayangkara Hospital.

Previously, several appeals had been made several times, both from the West Papua Regional Police, the Fakfak Police and from the victim’s family, namely Darson Hegemur. Everyone has asked the perpetrators to immediately surrender themselves to the authorities so they can be held accountable for their actions.

However, despite all the warnings that had been given, in fact all the perpetrators continued to ignore them and instead resisted the officers when arrested.

Furthermore, the West Papua Regional Police through the Fakfak Police hope that all components of the indigenous Papuan community (OAP), especially residents in Fakfak Regency, can play a much more active role in helping to reveal this incident.

It is hoped that members of the public from all elements in Bumi Cenderawasih, if anyone knows the whereabouts of the 12 people who are on the Wanted List (DPO), can report it to the police as soon as possible. Cooperation from the entire community is very important to quickly catch all the perpetrators.

Previously, on Saturday 9 September 2023 at around 08:00 Eastern Indonesia Time (WIT), security forces from the joint forces of the West Papua Regional Police, Brimob troops and also Fakfak Police personnel carried out an ambush at the headquarters of the perpetrators of the case in Kramomongga.

As a result of the raid carried out by security forces from joint personnel, the police succeeded in arresting 7 (seven) perpetrators who were affiliated with KST Papua. they are, 3 (three) people with the initials AK, HI and YR. Then the remaining 4 (four) people were those who were shot because they resisted and attacked the police, namely NH, NG, OH and SK.

The firm and measured action taken by the security forces from joint personnel against the four Papuan KST members is something that deserves to be supported because it does not violate the rules at all, because a persuasive approach had previously been taken, but it was the separatist gang who instead carrying out attacks on security forces.
