Prabowo-Gibran Government’s Commitment to Eradicate International Drug Syndicate Network
Jakarta-The Indonesian government through various state institutions continues to strengthen its commitment to combating international drug syndicates. One of the major efforts made is the eradication of narcotics trafficking originating from international networks.
Deputy for Eradication of the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) of the Republic of Indonesia, Sugiri, revealed that one of the biggest challenges facing Indonesia is the distribution of narcotics across countries. “One of our biggest challenges is the distribution of narcotics across countries, especially from the Golden Triangle region (Thailand, Myanmar, and Laos),” said Sugiri. He added that the region is the main source for the distribution of narcotics entering Indonesia via sea and land routes.
National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo emphasized the government’s seriousness in eradicating drugs. “Mr. President of Indonesia, he is very serious about ensuring that drug trafficking that has an impact on the younger generation must be eradicated as much as possible from upstream to downstream. Therefore, he formed a drug eradication desk where the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs is the director and we are tasked as the desk leaders,” said Listyo.
The Chief of Police also added that currently his party continues to fight against international drug syndicates operating in Indonesia, by targeting two large groups, namely the Golden Crescent syndicate and the Golden Triangle syndicate. “Currently we continue to fight and eradicate international syndicates, especially those that have been operating in Indonesia, there are two large groups, namely the Golden Crescent syndicate and the Golden Triangle syndicate,” Listyo emphasized.
Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs, Budi Gunawan, on the same occasion, asked for support from all elements of society, especially the media, to work together in eradicating drugs. “We from the drug eradication desk ask for support from all media colleagues, let us unite to fight drugs, and together make Indonesia a killing ground or a place to destroy drug experts and dealers. Because we are in a drug emergency,” said Budi Gunawan firmly.
Budi also revealed that various types of drugs circulating in Indonesia, such as crystal meth and others, have ruined the lives of many people and created a major threat to the future of the nation. “There are various types of drugs here, starting from crystal meth, then other types of drugs that have also spread widely in various circles of society,” added Budi.
The Indonesian government’s clear commitment to eradicating drugs reflects a strong determination to maintain the sustainability of the young generation and the future of the nation. Various strategic efforts and collaborations between various state institutions and the media are expected to reduce the negative impacts of drug trafficking, while building a healthier and more productive society.
