Jakarta – The government under the leadership of President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka has shown seriousness in eradicating online gambling (Judol) that harms society.

Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs (Menkomdigi) Meutya Hafid revealed that the government will form a Judol Handling Task Force that will work with electronic system operators and media.

“This team will optimize the blocking of negative content related to online gambling,” said Meutya.

She emphasized the importance of synergy between the government, private institutions, and society in tackling the increasingly prevalent problem of online gambling.

The government’s transparent approach in uncovering online gambling practices, including the disclosure involving a number of government employees, has also been appreciated by Cyber Law Expert from the University of Indonesia, Intan Pratama.

“This transparency is important so that the public can see the government’s commitment in taking firm action against law violations,” said Intan.

She also stated the importance of strengthening legal sanctions to serve as a warning for all state officials involved in illegal activities.

According to Intan, strengthening sanctions will be one of the important steps to break the chain of criminal acts, as well as strengthen public trust in law enforcement officials. Intan hopes that the government will continue to tighten supervision of this sector to avoid the potential for other illegal practices that could harm society.

Previously, President Prabowo emphasized that the government must continue to strengthen firm measures without compromise.

“There is no collusion or protection for online gambling perpetrators,” said the President.

He also highlighted four major issues that must receive serious attention, namely online gambling, drugs, smuggling, and corruption. According to the President, these four problems pose a threat that can damage the social and economic order of the country.

The Head of State also emphasized the importance of firm action against these law violations to maintain stability and justice in Indonesia.
