Jakarta – President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) chaired the entire series of meetings on the second day of the 43rd ASEAN High Level Conference (KTT) at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC), Wednesday (6/9/2023).
President Jokowi has held several meetings, including a bilateral meeting with Bangladesh President Mohammed Shahabuddin and chairing the 26th ASEAN-China Summit which was attended by the leaders of ASEAN countries together with Chinese Premier Li Qiang.
President Jokowi said this year is the 20th anniversary of the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation (TAC) or Accession to the ASEAN-China Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation.
“Welcome to Jakarta. “The PRC is one of 4 ASEAN dialogue partners that has comprehensive strategic partner status and this year marks the 20th anniversary of the PRC’s accession to the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation,” said Jokowi.
Jokowi explained that concrete cooperation can only be carried out if there is mutual trust between one another. This, he continued, must be built and maintained by all parties.
“We need to understand all of this by realizing concrete cooperation that is mutually beneficial. “This can only be done if we have trust in each other, which of course must be built and maintained by all parties,” said Jokowi.
Apart from that, President Jokowi also chaired the 24th ASEAN-Republic of Korea Summit which was attended by the President of the Republic of Korea Yoon Suk Yeol, as well as the 26th ASEAN-Japan Summit together with Japanese Prime Minister (PM) Fumio Kishida.
In the afternoon, President Jokowi together with the leaders of ASEAN countries attended the 26th ASEAN Plus Three (APT) Summit, which was attended by the leaders of the PRC, Republic of Korea and Japan.
On the sidelines of the meeting, the President also held a bilateral meeting with the Vice President of the United States Kamala Haris. Then, Jokowi and other state leaders also attended the 11th ASEAN-US Summit in Cenderawasih Room 3, JCC. After that, the ASEAN-Canada Summit was also held in the presence of the leaders of ASEAN countries with Canadian PM Justin Trudeau.
In the evening, President Jokowi and Mrs. Iriana together with state leaders and companions attended a Gala Dinner within the framework of the 43rd ASEAN Summit.
“The gala dinner was held at Plataran Resto, Gelora Bung Karno City Forest, Senayan, Central Jakarta, from 16.00 WIB to 22.00 WIB,” said Polda Metro Jaya Dirlantas Kombes Latif Usman.
Previously, Latif said that he had socialized the matter of diverting traffic flow during the ASEAN Summit. He asked for the understanding and support of the community in making the event a success
