Cooling System: Powerful Strategy to Create Peaceful and Conducive Regional Elections
Jakarta – The 2024 simultaneous regional head elections (Pilkada) have been held in various regions safely and peacefully. One of the keys to its success is the implementation of the cooling system strategy, an innovative program initiated by the police to maintain the conduciveness of security and public order during the election period.
In Riau Province, the cooling system program initiated by the Riau Police Chief, Inspector General Pol Mohammad Iqbal, has proven effective in ensuring the smooth running of the democratic party. Various activities were carried out, including joint prayers involving candidate pairs, winning teams, election organizers, and the community.
In addition, the Riau Police Chief prioritizes a humanist approach through routine patrols, security at polling stations, and coordination with the organizers.
“The election and regional elections in Riau ran peacefully thanks to the synergy of all parties, especially the full support of the cooling system program,” said Iqbal.
The Head of the Riau KPU, Rusidi Rusdan, also gave his appreciation for this initiative. According to him, the cooling system creates a harmonious atmosphere amidst political differences. The Head of the Riau Bawaslu, Alnofrizal, said something similar, assessing that this program has succeeded in minimizing the potential for election violations.
In West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), NTB Police Chief Inspector General Hadi Gunawan also implemented a cooling system approach after the regional elections. Through social gatherings with community leaders and social services, this program strengthens the spirit of togetherness in the community. Social assistance provided to local residents also received high appreciation, emphasizing the role of the police as a community partner.
“We want to ensure that differences in choice during the Pilkada do not affect brotherhood. The cooling system is an effective tool to knit togetherness,” said Hadi Gunawan.
In Medang Deras, North Sumatra, Police Chief AKP Abdi Tansar took a religious approach in the cooling system program. Through the morning prayer activity in congregation with religious and community leaders, he emphasized messages of security and order.
“The religious approach is effective in strengthening ties and increasing public awareness to support the Police in creating a safe situation,” said Abdi Tansar.
With close synergy between the police, election organizers, and the community, the cooling system has proven to be the key to successfully creating a peaceful atmosphere, while maintaining the integrity of the democratic party.
The successful implementation of cooling systems in various regions is proof that a collaborative, humanist, and religious approach can create a peaceful atmosphere during the Pilkada. This strategy can be an inspiration for other regions in holding conducive and democratic elections. []
