Jakarta – Ahead of the official announcement of the results of the 2024 simultaneous Regional Head Elections (Pilkada) by the General Elections Commission (KPU) on December 15, the National Police and various parties are calling on the public to maintain unity and respect the ongoing democratic process. This call is made to ensure the situation remains conducive and promote national stability.

Karo PID of the Public Relations Division of the National Police, Brigadier General Tjahyono Saputro, appealed to all elements of society, including religious and youth leaders, to respect the KPU’s decision. He emphasized that the implementation of the Pilkada had gone well and according to the rules.

“We hope that the public will continue to respect the KPU’s decision and maintain togetherness to build the nation,” said Tjahyono.

Tjahyono also emphasized the importance of respecting the legal process if there is a dispute over the election results that is submitted to the Constitutional Court (MK). According to him, differences of opinion are normal in democracy, but the stability and unity of the nation must be maintained.

“Differences are normal, but we need to prioritize diversity to build Indonesia towards the vision of Golden Indonesia 2045,” he continued.

As an anticipatory measure, the National Police implemented a cooling system through the Nusantara Cooling System Operation (Ops NCS) to maintain conduciveness throughout the region. Brigadier General Yuyun Yudhantara, Deputy Operations NCS, said that cyber patrols were carried out to monitor content on social media that had the potential to damage unity. In addition, outreach activities to the community were also intensified down to the Polres level.

Acting Mayor Arif Gunadi also invited the public to maintain order after the Pilkada. In a socialization event on law enforcement in handling social conflicts, Arif emphasized the importance of accepting the KPU’s decision with a cool head.

“The public need not be anxious. The legal process taking place at the Constitutional Court is an effort to seek justice, and we must believe that the results will be the best for all,” said Arif.

This call to maintain unity is a reminder that the Pilkada is not only a political competition, but also a momentum to strengthen diversity. By respecting the results of the Pilkada and supporting the ongoing legal process, the Indonesian people show maturity in democracy. All parties are expected to unite again to build a better nation.
