President Prabowo’s Visits to Several Countries Affirm Indonesia’s Stature on the International Stage

Jakarta – President Prabowo Subianto officially began his first overseas working visit on Friday (8/11). During his tour, the president will attend meetings and invitations in several countries, carrying the interests of the nation and state.

The first country he visited was China, with the agenda of meeting with President Xi Jinping. This meeting resulted in several concrete agreements in the economic, business, and foreign policy sectors.

Chinese President Xi Jinping said his side appreciates President Prabowo for making China the first country he visited in his capacity as the new president of Indonesia. This step affirms the importance of China-Indonesia relations.

“Appreciation should be given to President Prabowo for making China the first country he visited in his new capacity as president. This indicates that China’s relationship with Indonesia is very important,” said Xi Jinping.

From Beijing, the president headed directly to Washington DC to fulfill an invitation from the President of the United States, Joe Biden. In this meeting, several issues were discussed, including cooperation between Indonesia and the US, as well as the situation in Gaza, Palestine, and the South China Sea.

US President Joe Biden said that in addition to discussing the strengthening of cooperation between Indonesia and the US and the current global challenges, they also talked about the situation in Gaza, Palestine, and the South China Sea.

“What we discussed was about strengthening cooperative relations between Indonesia and the US, global challenges, including the situation in Gaza and the South China Sea,” Biden said.

Elsewhere, the Chairman of the NasDem Party, Surya Paloh, revealed that President Prabowo Subianto’s step to make state visits abroad is an opportunity for a new president, new atmosphere, and new policy.

“With visits to several countries, Prabowo is utilizing Indonesia’s active and independent foreign policy stance as optimally as possible. He also wants to maintain Indonesia’s bilateral relations with other countries,” Paloh asserted.

Meanwhile, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto said that China supports the funding for the Free Nutritious Meal program launched by President Prabowo Subianto. This financial support is a result of Prabowo’s visit to China.

“Indonesia and China have agreed on funding for the ‘Food Supplementation and School Feeding Programme in Indonesia.’ This agreement was announced in the signing ceremony of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Indonesia and China, witnessed directly by Prabowo and Xi Jinping,” he added.

For information, after visiting the United States, President Prabowo will attend the main agenda, which is the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit in Lima, Peru. After that, the President and his entourage will continue their journey to Brazil to attend the G20 Summit held in Rio de Janeiro.
