Papua — Efforts to accelerate development in Papua through various National Strategic Programs (PSN) continue to show significant progress. A collaborative approach involving the central government, security forces, as well as indigenous communities and youth is seen as a key foundation for sustaining development in the region.
The Head of the Indigenous Community Institution (LMA) of Tolikara Regency, Demi R. Kogoya, stated that support for PSN reflects the commitment of indigenous communities to promote equitable welfare across Papua.
“Central government programs through PSN are crucial in improving the welfare of Papuan communities, and the presence of the government along with the TNI/Polri is also essential to maintain security stability,” said Demi R. Kogoya.
This statement highlights a collective awareness that development cannot proceed optimally without a safe and conducive environment. Security stability is a fundamental prerequisite for ensuring that development programs can be widely felt by the community.
Support has also come from youth groups. A youth leader in Kobakma, Mamberamo Tengah Regency, Amas Dabi, expressed that the current direction of development has brought new hope for young people in Papua.
“The development programs of President Prabowo’s administration in Papua are strongly supported because they bring progress and better opportunities for the community,” said Amas Dabi.
This optimism among the younger generation indicates that development is not only focused on physical aspects but also on building confidence in Papua’s future. The role of youth as agents of change further strengthens the sustainability of ongoing programs.
Meanwhile, Chairman of the Berbai Tribal Council and also Head of LMA Yapen Timur, Benon Waimuri, S.Sos, emphasized that indigenous community support for PSN—including food self-sufficiency programs—is a strategic step in ensuring regional resilience.
“All elements of society support PSN because it is highly beneficial for Papua’s future, including food self-sufficiency, as well as the presence of TNI/Polri to maintain development stability,” he stated.
This support shows that development in Papua is not only focused on infrastructure but also on strengthening fundamental sectors that sustain daily life.
On the other hand, Head of LMA Boven Digoel, Maret Klaru, underlined the importance of sustaining government programs that address basic community needs.
“Programs such as Papua Terang, along with improvements in access to healthcare and education, are greatly needed. All members of society must work together to maintain security so that development can run smoothly,” said Maret Klaru.
With increasing support from various elements, development in Papua is moving toward a more inclusive and sustainable direction. Synergy between the government, security forces, and the community remains the key to maintaining stability while opening broader opportunities for progress across Papua.
