Beware of Plans by Radical Groups to Overthrow Legislative Government
By: Taufiq Kautsar)*
The public is asked to be aware of radical groups who are still actively spreading forbidden ideologies. This is reflected in the disclosure of the Indonesian Islamic State (NII) network which has malicious intentions to overthrow the legitimate government.
Radicalism and terrorism in any form are indeed not allowed and should be eliminated immediately, especially because they can disrupt the integrity of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia. Recently there was an action by a terrorist group calling themselves the Indonesian Islamic State (NII). As revealed by the Special Detachment (Densus) 88 Anti-terror of the Indonesian National Police, that this group has plans to overthrow the Government even before 2024.
The disclosure of the NII terrorist group’s plans was revealed after 16 suspects were arrested by Densus 88. They were arrested in the West Sumatra region in March 2022. Not only in the form of allegations, but Detachment 88 also clearly has strong evidence which shows that they have an agenda to overthrow the current sovereign government.
Furthermore, Kombes Pol Aswin Siregar as the Head of the Operational Assistance Section (Kabagbanops) stated that the arrested group still adheres to the ideas of the NII in the Kartosuwiryo era. It was also emphasized that this group has a desire to replace the Pancasila ideology that we have used so far to become Islamic law, and to change the government system to the Khilafah.
It’s not just a desire to overthrow a sovereign government before 2024, but Aswin added that it turns out that they will also carry out these actions with a number of terror plans which will certainly threaten the security and safety of the wider community. The threat in the form of terror was successfully revealed by Densus 88 because they had prepared several sharp weapons and were looking for blacksmiths.
Terrorism acts as explained by Brigadier General Ahmad Nurwakhid as the Director of Prevention of the National Counter Terrorism Agency (BNPT) cannot be separated from radicalism. In other words, it can be said that all terrorists must adhere to certain radical ideas. Radicalism itself can be triggered by several things.
If a person or group of people has a tendency to act intolerantly, then has an incorrect religious understanding, has political dissatisfaction, even to the point of causing a certain sense of hatred and resentment, then it is not impossible that these various things will trigger radicalism to arise. If all these things accumulate into one, they will turn into a certain understanding and movement.
Certainly the radicalism movement is very damaging to the state and also to religion itself because it is completely inappropriate and does not reflect the true teachings of religion. Then for the state, radicalism can become a very serious threat because it can trigger its followers to do something unconstitutional, such as trying to overthrow the current sovereign government before 2024. Even though it is very clear that the constitution states that a sovereign government lead for 5 years in 1 period.
For that it is very important for all of us to continue to be introspective and vigilant. Do not let the notions of radicalism affect our thinking, including those closest to us. With joint vigilance, it is hoped that terrorist acts and radicalism can be prevented and the integrity of the Unitary Republic of Indonesia can be maintained.
