3 Million Homes Program Opens New Job Opportunities

In an effort to encourage inclusive economic growth and accelerate the fulfillment of basic community needs, the Government has launched the 3 Million Homes Program. This policy is not just a physical development program, but also a catalyst for people’s economic growth and a way to create millions of new jobs. With a target of building three million housing units within a certain period of time, this program not only targets the fulfillment of housing needs, but is also designed to empower the national employment sector from upstream to downstream.
One of the most interesting aspects of this program is its contribution to massive job creation in various sectors. In the process of building just one house, the involvement of many parties is needed, starting from builders, architects, civil engineers, to administrative staff. If multiplied by the target of building three million houses, the potential workforce absorbed reaches millions. This is good news for the community, especially those affected by unemployment and the younger generation who are looking for job opportunities.
Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP), Maruarar Sirait, expressed his optimism in meeting the target of building 3 million houses. He explained the preparation of the roadmap for the housing sector. First, providing strategic direction and measurable implementation stages to achieve the target of building 3 million houses effectively and on target. Second, realizing the integration of cross-sector policies and programs in the provision of sustainable housing and supporting low-income communities (MBR). Third, becoming a common reference for all stakeholders in formulating policies, programs and budgets to support the acceleration of housing development.
On the other hand, more than just temporary jobs, this program also opens up space for the growth of local entrepreneurs in the construction sector. Many small contractors, building material entrepreneurs, and other supporting service providers now have wider opportunities to be actively involved in public housing development projects. The government also provides space through inclusive policies so that local entrepreneurs are empowered, so that economic benefits are not only enjoyed by large companies, but also touch the micro and small economic layers in various regions.
Another important aspect that often goes unnoticed is the long-term impact on the local economy. When a housing complex is built, economic activity around it automatically increases. Food stalls, grocery stores, local transportation services, and educational and health institutions will emerge to meet the needs of new residents. This means that the construction of public housing also directly spurs the growth of new economic centers in the area.
In addition to providing economic impacts, this program also has positive social impacts. By having a decent home, people will be more prosperous and have a sense of security and comfort. Decent housing is the main foundation in building a family that is physically and psychologically healthy. Children who grow up in a good home environment tend to have higher academic achievement and a more stable social life.
On the other hand, the government’s efforts to ensure that development is carried out sustainably and environmentally friendly are worthy of appreciation. Many housing projects in this program have begun to implement the concept of green building, the use of environmentally friendly materials, and energy efficiency. This shows that the government is not only oriented towards quantity, but also quality. In the long term, this approach will support the transition to a green economy, which also opens up new jobs in the fields of environmentally friendly technology, renewable energy, and waste management.
Meanwhile, the General Chairperson of the DPP Realestate Indonesia (REI), Joko Suranto said that the 3 million houses program initiated by President Prabowo Subianto was able to create 2 million new jobs. He also explained that the 3 million houses program would be intensified in rural areas, where based on the strategy of the Ministry of PKP, this program targets 2 million houses in villages and 1 million in urban areas. In addition, the 3 million houses program is also able to improve the village economy, where based on his calculations it will create 180,000 new business actors and be able to grow 18,000 developers.
Then, collaboration between the government and the private sector in financing and implementing this project is the key to success. The subsidized home ownership credit scheme offered also helps low-income people to have decent housing at affordable costs. This is a form of social justice in access to housing. The 3 Million Homes Program is concrete evidence that development designed with heart and long-term vision can provide multiple benefits to the community. Not only does it meet the primary need for housing, but it also encourages economic growth, expands employment opportunities, and improves the quality of life of the community.
With the spirit of mutual cooperation, optimism, and hard work of all elements of the nation, this program is not only possible to achieve, but also capable of becoming a new milestone in achieving national welfare. If it continues and is developed sustainably, it is not impossible that Indonesia will enter a golden era where every citizen has a decent home, dignified work, and a future full of hope.
