Jakarta – Indonesia’s Free Health Check-Up Program (CKG), initiated by the government, has achieved remarkable results with more than 52 million participants nationwide. The program, part of President Prabowo Subianto’s Rapid Best Results Program (PHTC), has made a significant impact on the government’s efforts to combat non-communicable diseases and improve overall public health.

Implemented from February to November 2025, the CKG program recorded over 52 million participants receiving free medical examinations. According to the latest report, 34.3 million people participated in the general CKG program, while 16.2 million students took part in the school-based CKG program. These achievements highlight the importance of early detection in preventing more serious diseases in the future.

Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin emphasized that this success is the result of strong collaboration between the government, healthcare workers, and a population that is increasingly aware of the importance of health.

“Reaching more than 52 million participants is a major milestone for national health efforts. However, the data collected from CKG also serves as a serious reminder that physical activity and healthy lifestyles must be strengthened as shared priorities,” Budi stated.

The data reveals concerning health conditions, particularly among adults. More than 95 percent of Indonesian adults have extremely low levels of physical activity, while obesity and hypertension are significantly prevalent. Dental caries, central obesity, and blood pressure disorders are among the main issues that require urgent attention to prevent more severe health impacts.

Beyond routine examinations, the CKG program functions as a vital instrument for early detection and disease management. The Health Minister emphasized that the earlier a disease is detected, the greater the chance a person has to recover and avoid more severe conditions such as catastrophic illnesses, disability, or death.

Based on the collected data, the government plans to strengthen health policies informed by CKG findings and enhance promotive and preventive services across all health facilities.

“It’s not just about the number of participants, but how the results of this program are used to strengthen public health policies and interventions,” Budi added.

Other notable findings reveal varying health challenges across age groups. For newborns, risks include bile duct abnormalities and low birth weight. Among toddlers and children, dental caries and stunting remain prevalent. Even in adolescents, insufficient physical activity and dental problems are emerging concerns. The Minister also highlighted a hypertension rate of 37.7 percent among the elderly.

The CKG program does not only target residents in major cities but also reaches remote and traditional communities, including the Baduy people. Deputy Minister of Health Prof. Dante Saksono Harbuwono underscored the importance of early detection for all population groups.

“This program is not just for the elderly—it is for all age groups, from newborns to seniors. CKG has the potential to reduce future economic burdens by detecting diseases early,” Dante said.

In line with these efforts, the government continues to ensure equal access to healthcare services for all segments of society. Linda Restaningrum, Deputy Assistant for Access and Quality Improvement of Health Services at the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture (Kemenko PMK), reaffirmed the government’s commitment to expanding CKG coverage, including to remote and traditional areas.

“We are ensuring that the Baduy indigenous community and other remote regions receive equal, free, and high-quality healthcare services,” Linda explained.

The successful nationwide implementation of CKG is the result of strong cooperation between relevant ministries, local governments, healthcare workers, and private institutions. The government remains committed to strengthening the CKG program to reach even higher national targets.
