AIS Forum 2023 Summit Golden Gate for Sustainable Blue Economic Growth
Bali – Dozens of countries that are members of the Archipelagic and Island States (AIS) Forum are holding the AIS Blue Economy High Level Dialogue. This event is a side event of the 2023 AIS Summit (KTT) which will be held in Bali from 10-11 October 2023.
Regarding this, the Head of the AIS Forum Secretariat, Riny Modaso, assessed that the AIS Blue Economy High Level Dialogue was a meeting that had important meaning. This is because the event was not only attended by world leaders, but also economic experts, investors and business people involved in discussing the continuity and development of the blue economy sector.
“The main focus of this dialogue is to identify the main opportunities and obstacles in developing a reliable blue economy in island and island countries, as well as facilitating the exchange of knowledge and expertise between participants to increase the capacity of island countries in developing, implementing and monitoring economic initiatives
blue,” he said.
He revealed that island and island countries are the countries most potentially affected by climate change. Therefore, a number of these countries must be able to take advantage of the opportunities of a sustainable blue economy.
“However, most of them have not taken full advantage of this blue economy trend due to the lack of private investment and funding facilities, lack of supporting environment, as well as
existing risks, such as debt pressure and climate vulnerability,” he explained.
Furthermore, Rini stated that the discussion was an important step in maintaining equality in island and archipelagic countries.
“The AIS Blue Economy High Level Dialogue is an important step in maintaining equality and ensuring that island and archipelagic countries can reap the full benefits of sustainable blue economy growth. “We hope that this dialogue will produce innovative solutions for future blue economy challenges,” he concluded.
For your information, the AIS Blue Economy High Level Dialogue was held at the Mulia Hotel, Nusa Dua, Badung with the theme “Forging a New Era of Sustainable Blue Growth in Archipelagic and Island States.”
This high-level discussion event aims to shape a new era of sustainable blue economic growth and strengthen collaboration in blue financing to accelerate its implementation.
Previously, Deputy for Tourism and Creative Economy of the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment (Kemenko Marves) Odo Manuhutu assessed that the AIS Forum was a joint momentum to build the world’s blue economy,
“We may not feel the benefits of the forum right now, but in the next 10 to 15 years this forum will make a real contribution to the world, including Indonesia,” he said.
He also hopes that the meeting at the AIS Forum Summit can foster solid collaboration in efforts to overcome multi-faceted challenges in the region.
