All Parties Must Participate and Fully Support the Acceleration of Papuan Development
By: Recky Rumbiak
All parties without exception have the same obligations and responsibilities to participate and play an active role in fully supporting the acceleration of development in the Land of Papua to increase prosperity and create equality in Indonesia.
The realization of equality in all corners of the country has indeed become one of the main focuses of the Government in the era of leadership of the President of the Republic of Indonesia (RI) Joko Widodo (Jokowi) so that he has never stopped implementing various kinds of development acceleration programs even in the Easternmost Province of the country, namely in Papua.
This is because it is not only because Papua is at the very edge of this nation, but it is also related to the inequality that they have long experienced as a result of development efforts that only have a Java-centric paradigm or seem to prioritize Java alone. Therefore, all parties are obliged to participate in supporting the government’s efforts.
The seriousness of the Indonesian Government in accelerating the development of Bumi Cenderawasih can actually be seen from many things. Some of these are draft regulations regarding this matter, such as the existence of a Presidential Regulation (Perpres) concerning the Steering Committee for the Acceleration of Development of Special Autonomy for Papua (BP3OKP) and also the existence of a Presidential Decree concerning the Master Plan for the Acceleration of Development of Special Autonomy for Papua 2021-2024 (RIPPP).
Therefore, to continue to ensure the success of all development acceleration programs in the region, of course it is not just regulations that are important but there must also be cooperation from various parties so that all the legal bases that have been issued can be implemented optimally in the field.
Regarding this matter, the Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia (Wapres RI), KH Ma’ruf Amin said that to accelerate development throughout the Papua region, it is very necessary to have optimal support from all parties.
It is also very important that this support comes from all elements without exception, such as community organizations, representatives or local figures. Elements of custom, religion, women, all of whom are indigenous Papuans (OAP), must all participate and fully support all government policies or programs to improve the welfare of their own land.
One of the things that can indicate a concrete form of real support from these various parties is that they can consistently socialize all government policies and plans to all elements of Papuan society.
The reason is, so far the government has made many kinds of decisions and is firmly determined to provide affirmative action to all indigenous Papuan communities (OAP) so that socialization regarding all kinds of affirmative policies should be able to reach the ears of all the people of Bumi Cenderawasih, and is also useful for minimizing incitement. and issues from irresponsible groups who are still anti-the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI).
The President of the Republic of Indonesia, Jokowi, really wants to accelerate development in Papua, so he who leads the current government has drawn up many program plans regarding this matter.
Minister of National Development Planning (PPN) or Head of the National Planning Agency (Bappenas), Suharso Monoarfa said that the government will take various approaches to welfare in Papua. The entire development acceleration program will be implemented starting this year.
This welfare approach means that the government is very focused on making improvements to various facilities in Bumi Cenderawasih, such as in the education, health and other sectors.
For this reason, all parties including related Ministries or Institutions (K/L) and various elements of stakeholders or other related stakeholders are also obliged to provide input on various programs for Papua and their full support.
For Ministries or Institutions, President Jokowi has even required them to include efforts to accelerate Papua’s development program in their budgets and work plans.
Not only that, but the Head of State also really wants to ensure that the security approach can be implemented in the Bumi Cenderawasih region, especially in locations that are prone to conflict.
Security is also a very important aspect for the Land of Papua, therefore the government is paying special attention, because it is to ensure peace in the Land of Cenderawasih.
For your information, in the near future, the Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, Ma’ruf Amin, will visit Papua directly to review the progress of the program. He will be the implementing coordinator for the Papua development acceleration program.
Meanwhile, Deputy Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN), Kartika Wirjoatmodjo, said that the meeting on the Papua development acceleration program with a welfare approach also discussed the special operational budget for Bumi Cenderawasih, which also presented the Minister of Defense (Menhan) Prabowo Subianto and the Head of State Intelligence Agency (BIN) Budi Gunawan.
The presence of these various parties means that efforts to accelerate the development of the welfare of all people in Papua will not run optimally if they are only carried out by certain parties, but must receive support from all parties.
