All Parties Urged to Maintain Conduciveness During Pope’s Visit to Indonesia

Jakarta – The Indonesian National Police invites all elements of society to participate in maintaining conducive conditions during Pope Francis’ visit, so that it runs safely and peacefully.

“Let’s work together to maintain the atmosphere and conduciveness of Pope Francis’ visit activities so that it can run safely, peacefully, and smoothly,” said Karo PID Divhumas Polri, Brigadier General Pol Tjahyono Saputro.

Similarly, the Chairman of PBNU, Ulil Abshar Abdalla (Gus Ulil), emphasized that the arrival of Pope Francis brought a breath of fresh air for interfaith dialogue. This visit shows the world that Indonesia is a country that is able to maintain diversity and prioritize interfaith dialogue.

“Pope Francis’ visit is clear evidence that religious tolerance and moderation are increasingly taking root in Indonesia. This is the result of a long process that has now brought us to a point where the world sees Indonesia as a role model in maintaining diversity,” said Gus Ulil.

Gus Ulil also highlighted the importance of utilizing the arrival of Pope Francis to strengthen interfaith dialogue, considering that Indonesia recently also received a visit from the Grand Sheikh of Al-Azhar, Sheikh Ahmed El-Tayeb.

“This is a rare opportunity for two major world religious figures to visit Indonesia in close proximity, demonstrating that Indonesia is an important hub for global peace and brotherhood efforts,” he added.

Gus Ulil added that all elements of society are urged to maintain a conducive and harmonious atmosphere while the Pope is in Indonesia.

“The public is expected to welcome this visit with a spirit of brotherhood and maintain conduciveness, so that the message of peace and tolerance brought by Pope Francis can be realized in everyday life in Indonesia,” he added.

Meanwhile, the President Director of Lafadz Nusantara Center, Deni Iskandar also invited all parties to participate in maintaining harmony during Pope Francis’ visit.

“All parties must participate in maintaining harmony during the presence of world figure Pope Francis, we hope that all will establish communication between figures to maintain conduciveness and peace,” he said.

The presence of Pope Francis in Indonesia is not only a religious event, but also an important moment for unity and harmony between religious communities in Indonesia. Therefore, all parties are committed to welcoming this visit with enthusiasm and respect, while ensuring all aspects of security and order.
