Appreciating the Active Role of the Community in Maintaining Public Order and Security Post-Regional Election
Jakarta – After the implementation of the 2024 Simultaneous Regional Elections, the security and public order (Kamtibmas) situation in various regions continues to be well maintained thanks to the active role of the community. Security forces appreciate the participation of residents who helped maintain the conduciveness of the region after the voting.
Indonesian National Police Chief (Kapolri), General Listyo Sigit said that post-Pilkada security stability is a top priority. Security is not only the responsibility of the authorities, but also the community.
“We really appreciate the role of the community who actively participate in maintaining order. It is not only the responsibility of the authorities, but also the community. The spirit of mutual cooperation to maintain peace after the election is very visible throughout the region,” said the Chief of Police.
Meanwhile, the Metro Jaya Police Chief, Inspector General Karyoto, said that there were several preventive steps taken by the police in maintaining public order and security after the regional elections, namely by involving various elements of society, including religious leaders, traditional leaders, and community organizations.
“We continue to coordinate with various parties, including communities active at the grassroots level, to create a peaceful atmosphere and maintain harmony,” said Karyoto.
In a number of areas, police officers also invited the public to maintain public security and order (kamtibmas) following the implementation of voting for the Regional Head Elections (Pilkada).
Langkat Police Chief, North Sumatra, AKBP David Triyo Prasojo appreciated the active participation of the community in maintaining a conducive situation during the voting process. The success of the Pilkada is determined by the voting and the security and harmony of the community after the event takes place.
“We would like to thank all the people of Langkat Regency for their role in maintaining a safe and peaceful situation during the Pilkada. We hope that this condition will continue, so that stability in our region is maintained,” said the Kapolres.
The police chief also asked the public not to be easily provoked by information that is not yet clear, especially on social media. Because the spread of fake news (hoaxes) can trigger divisions in society.
“Be wise in receiving and disseminating information. If there are things that are doubtful or potentially disruptive to public order, immediately report them to the authorities,” he said.
Elsewhere, the Chairman of the Gerindra Party for Subulussalam City, Aceh, Rasumin Pohan said that there should be no more divisions in the community after the implementation of the 2024 Pilkada.
“The election is over, whoever wins the regional election is the people’s decision, let’s unite again for the sake of this city that we love,” said Rasumin.
He added that all pairs of mayoral and deputy mayoral candidates have the same thoughts, namely aiming to improve the welfare of the people of Subulussalam City. The public is asked to maintain a conducive situation while waiting for the official results to be announced by the Independent Election Commission (KIP) of Subulussalam City.
“We also appeal to all parties not to be provoked by false issues, and to continue to prioritize the value of mutual respect after the Pilkada is implemented,” he concluded.
