Appreciating the Success of Security Forces in Cutting Off Weapons Supply to OPM
All elements of society appreciate and fully support the success of the security forces in cutting off the supply of weapons to the Free Papua Organization (OPM). By breaking the weapons supply chain, it is hoped that the OPM group can be easily crushed.
OPM is a separatist group that is the source of conflict in Papua. Recently, the OPM even carried out their very barbaric actions again by shooting dead civilians in Timida Village, East Paniai District, Paniai Regency, Central Papua. The victim targeted was a public transportation driver.
What’s even sadder is that the Bumi Cenderawasih terrorist group not only shot, but they also burned the victim’s public transportation. It turned out that the perpetrators of the shooting and arson were the OPM led by Undius Kogoya who had been carrying out their heinous actions in Paniai Regency.
Regarding this, security forces continue to narrow the OPM’s space by cutting off the weapons supply chain. The success of the security forces in cutting off the supply of weapons to the OPM is a real form of the state’s presence and concern to protect all of Indonesia’s blood, including the civilian population in the area nicknamed Bumi Cenderawasih which has been continuously threatened by the presence of the OPM.
The Cartenz Peace Task Force (Satgas) succeeded in arresting a member of the State Civil Apparatus (ASN) named Sarius Indey, who was suspected of supplying weapons to the Free Papua Organization.
This arrest was the result of development of the previous suspect, namely Petrus Oyaltouw. Regarding this matter, the Head of the Cartenz Peace Operations Public Relations Task Force (Kasatgas Humas), Adjunct Senior Commissioner of Police (AKBP) Bayu Suseno explained that officers also succeeded in confiscating a number of pieces of evidence in the form of cellphones and identity documents.
Not only that, but it turns out that the suspect named Sarius Indey had a number of roles. One of them, he gave a weapon which he claimed was found in the former Transportation Service (Dishub) office, then gave Petrus IDR 10 million worth of money so he could get another weapon.
It didn’t stop there, but it turned out that Petrus was also connected to another suspect with the initials MO who had previously been arrested by the security forces, whose role at that time was to hold two short-barreled weapons.
On the other hand, there was an individual from the Yalimo Resort Police (Polres) who took away 4 (four) weapons and was suspected of joining the ranks of the West Papua National Liberation Army (TPNPB) OPM.
According to the Head of the Professional and Security Division of the Papua Regional Police (Kabid Propam Polda Papua) Senior Commissioner (Kombes) Roy Satya revealed that the escape of Second Police Brigadier (Bripda) Aske Mabel was indeed carrying four weapons.
As a result of this incident, the Papua Regional Police immediately responded quickly and firmly sent a team to investigate the incident. Very emphatically, the security forces stated that all matters relating to allegations of Yalimo Police officers assisting in the supply of weapons to OPM would continue to be investigated.
Security forces continue to intensify efforts to break the weapons supply chain at the Free Papua Organization. Not only did it come from several ASN individuals or officials, but the cutting off of weapons supplies also occurred at regional borders connected to neighboring countries.
The reason is, there are indeed several countries that until now continue to be strongly suspected of being weapons suppliers to the OPM, thus making the terrorist gang still able to survive.
Apart from that, this suspicion is also stronger because the Free Papua Organization has several quite sophisticated weapons. Regarding this matter, the Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) Tito Karnavian said that there were indeed several sources of weapons supplies and ammunition belonging to the OPM, the route of entry of which was via the rat road on the Papua New Guinea border.
There are at least four sources of weapons that OPM uses, one of which comes from the Philippines because weapons are materials that can be sold freely there. Moreover, there is also a home industry there with good quality.
Furthermore, another country that supplied firearms to the Bumi Cenderawasih terrorist gang was the United States. This is proven by the presence of OPM members who use a number of weapons, one of which is the M16 which is a weapon made in Uncle Sam’s country.
Furthermore, there is Austria with a Steyr AUG type weapon to Russia with an AK-47 type weapon. OPM used this weapon to carry out raids with very indiscriminate attacks.
Never getting tired, the security forces continue to strive to bring about peace on the Earth of Cenderawasih, including primarily by completely eradicating the OPM, and reducing their strength by breaking the weapons supply chain that leads to the terrorist gang.
Full support from all people in Indonesia is very important, especially the success of the Indonesian security forces in breaking the weapons supply chain to the OPM deserves very high appreciation so that Bumi Cenderawasih is able to recover with conducive conditions and development in Papua can be carried out smoothly. maximum.
