Bogor — President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, emphasized that the success of Indonesia as a diverse nation heavily depends on the presence of leadership that is fair, honest, and sincerely devoted to serving the people. This statement was delivered during the opening of the 2026 National Coordination Meeting (Rakornas) of Central and Regional Governments at the Sentul International Convention Center (SICC), Bogor Regency, West Java, on Monday (2/2/2026).
In his address to governors, regents, and mayors from across Indonesia, President Prabowo highlighted that the public holds very high expectations of leaders at all levels. According to him, Indonesians long for leaders who prioritize justice, honesty, and fully work for the welfare of society.
“They always hope for good leaders, fair leaders, honest leaders, leaders who work for all the people. This is the hope of all our citizens,” President Prabowo said.
The President also issued a stern warning to regional leaders to avoid selfishness in carrying out their leadership mandates. He stressed that the public does not appreciate leaders who focus solely on personal or group interests while neglecting the well-being of the people.
“They do not like leaders who only advance their own personal interests. This is the expectation of all our citizens,” he emphasized.
Furthermore, President Prabowo stated that Indonesia’s diversity in ethnicity, religion, race, and language is a strategic strength that must be nurtured collectively. He noted that such diversity can serve as a unifying foundation for the nation within the framework of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI) if led with fairness and responsibility.
In addition to integrity, President Prabowo urged regional leaders to exercise sharpness and vigilance in governance. He reminded them not to be naive and to always understand the political and social dynamics in their regions to maintain stability and social harmony.
During his briefing, President Prabowo underscored the importance of understanding the role of government apparatus, both at the central and regional levels, as servants and leaders of the people. He emphasized that, fundamentally, Indonesians seek a peaceful, secure, and harmonious life.
The 2026 Rakornas is regarded as a strategic moment as it brings together nearly all elements of government in a single national coordination forum. “This is a good opportunity for me to meet almost 99 percent of the Government of the Republic of Indonesia, from central to regional levels,” President Prabowo said.
The Rakornas 2026 was attended by regional leaders and their deputies, as well as representatives from the Regional Leadership Communication Forum (Forkopimda) from across the country. Through this forum, President Prabowo called on all government officials to unite their vision, maintain harmony, and fully work for the people’s welfare to ensure a safe, stable, and prosperous future for Indonesia.
