Beware of Provocation of Intolerant CSOs Ahead of Nataru

Community organizations that are egocentric and intolerant of different beliefs have created unrest. The public is also expected to be aware of Intolerant Ormas that continue to spread provocations ahead of Christmas and New Year (Nataru).
The public is also worried about the existence of intolerant mass organizations that often hold lectures by presenting speakers who are intolerant and reject pluralism. One of the mass organizations with the highest acts of intolerance is the FPI (Islamic Defenders Front). In 2010 ago, Zaniba Ariffah Chafsoh Rahman Wahid as Director of The Wahid Institute said that FPI in various regions was still the highest perpetrator of acts of religious intolerance in the country.
Based on location, Wahid Institute (WI) found 133 cases of religious intolerance spread across 13 monitoring areas. Yenny Wahid said that the highest cases of intolerance were West Java and Banten in cases of intolerance with 43 cases or 32 percent. However, an increasing change occurred where East Java rose to the third position.
According to Yenny, there are a number of characteristics of acts of religious intolerance that need to be watched out for by the government. These include restrictions on worship and freedom of expression, threats of violence and intimidation, discrimination on the basis of religion or belief. This includes coercion and restriction of belief, physical and property attacks, restrictions on places of worship, and the spread of hatred against certain groups.
If the attitude of intolerance is increasingly highlighted, of course the decline of a nation is a necessity, because this attitude makes it difficult for the government to develop policies. In addition, intolerance also has the potential to cause divisions due to social conflicts in social life. It could be because of economy, social status, race, ethnicity, religion and culture.
Vice President Ma’ruf Amin once regretted the practice of intolerance that had reached an attitude of not wanting to be friendly, sitting next to each other or conducting business activities with groups or individuals of different religions or beliefs. He is also worried that if this intolerance is allowed it will be dangerous and damage the integrity of the Indonesian nation.
He also said that intolerance towards other beliefs is a violation of the constitution. Our constitution certainly guarantees the right to freedom of religion, this is stated in the 1945 Constitution Article 28E paragraph (1) and Article 29 paragraph (2).
We must be aware that tolerance is not just an academic term and affirmation, but the practice of diversity in dealing with diversity. Tolerance requires real action in every action. For this reason, mainstreaming the principles, insights, and practices of tolerance in a society with Bhineka is a necessity.
Of course, every organization, group or individual community in Indonesia must comply with the applicable law according to the law. If it is against or deviates from the legal corridor, it certainly deserves firm action. All movements of intolerant and radical mass organizations that often do not comply with the rule of law.
FPI is also an organization that tends to be intolerant, this is proven when the Filadelfia Batak Protestant Christian Huria Church (HKBP) on a Sunday morning in 2012. Who would have thought, his intention to worship ended in disaster, when suddenly dozens of people wearing white robes with the FPI label met their expectations. church grounds. They blocked the congregation who wanted to worship.
Pastor Palti, as the worship leader, admitted that it was not uncommon for the congregation to have tossed rotten eggs and spilled water on their way to the church. Even during worship, the FPI group also held a demonstration using loudspeakers to disturb the congregation who were praying. Palti also once asked President Jokowi, so that people in Indonesia can freely worship according to their respective religions and beliefs. This action further emphasizes that apart from frequently triggering acts of violence, FPI is also a mass organization that is intolerant of various freedoms of worship.
From past experience, of course, the government needs to be aware of the maneuvers carried out by intolerant organizations, even though FPI has been issued, but even though the organization’s name has been designated as a banned mass organization, it does not mean that their ideology has disappeared. Diversity in Indonesia is a wealth that must be nurtured with an attitude of tolerance to always take care of each other and synergize with each other.
