Beware of provocations, report suspected election fraud to Bawaslu
The 2024 election was held on February 14 2024. A quick vote count shows that pair number two, namely presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto-Cawapres Gibran Rakabuming Raka, is ahead in a number of survey institutions. However, the KPU has not yet officially announced the final 2024 election results to the public.
On the other hand, a number of parties believe that there are allegations of election fraud. This prompted a response from various prominent figures to report suspected election fraud to the Bawaslu authorities (Election Supervisory Agency), so as not to cause commotion or provocation among the public.
The Anies-Muhaimin National Team said there were several allegations of fraud in the 202 Election, including inflated votes in the KPU Recapitulation Information System, ballot papers that had already been marked for one of the pairs, the mobilization of village officials, and the mobilization of elderly people to vote for certain candidates by officers from the Voting Organizing Group (KPPS). ). Then, there are fewer ballots from the permanent voter list (DPT); alleged obstruction of voters by the Overseas Election Committee (PPLN), alleged manipulation of DPT data; witness obstruction, and money politics.
President Joko Widodo emphasized to all parties to follow the mechanism in the 2024 General Election (Pemilu). The President said that this mechanism also regulates if fraud occurs in the election implementation process.
Regarding this, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) appealed to dissatisfied parties not only to cry foul, but to bring evidence to Bawaslu and the Constitutional Court (MK) if there are allegations of fraud in the 2024 elections.
Jokowi then talked about the large number of witnesses at the polling station (TPS). These witnesses came from presidential and vice presidential candidates, legislative candidates, parties, and even Bawaslu. According to him, multiple witnesses at the TPS will eliminate fraud. Even so, President Jokowi also asked all parties to wait for the official results of the 2024 election which will be announced.
The Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu) will investigate allegations of election fraud, namely ballots that were cast before the 2024 election voting.
Chairman of Bawaslu RI Rahmat Bagja said that his party was still following up on the findings of problems from the voting process to counting votes at polling stations (TPS). However, the time for investigating criminal allegations is quite limited, because it includes the process of investigation, investigation, and searching for evidence.
Bawaslu must sequence the chronology of alleged crimes in these findings, while Law (UU) no. 7/2017 concerning Elections clearly regulates the time limit for taking action against violations. If it is successfully collected within the specified time limit, Bawaslu will register the evidence. Next, the police will continue with the investigation stage.
The Indonesian Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) also denied the Ganjar-Mahfud National Winning Team (TPN) claim that reports regarding alleged fraud in the 2024 general election (Pemilu) had not been processed.
Bagja explained that all reports were received by Bawaslu. Then, the report is reviewed formally and materially. For reports that do not meet the requirements and need correction, they will be submitted to the reporting party. Meanwhile, reports that meet the requirements will go to the registration stage and the type of violation will be determined.
Previously, the Legal Director of the National Winning Team (TPN) for the Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud MD pair, Ronny Talapessy, said that they had voiced things that were not in line with democracy in the 2024 Election. However, reports from the Ganjar-Mahfud TPN often stop at the Integrated Law Enforcement Center (Gakkumdu). This stalled process does not provide a good example for the Indonesian people.
Former member of the General Election Commission (KPU), I Gusti Putu Artha, also raised his voice regarding allegations of fraud that occurred in the 2024 general election (Pemilu). He advised the aggrieved parties to sort out several pieces of evidence of violations before entering the Constitutional Court (MK) trial. ).
First, each camp must be able to sort out quantitative and qualitative evidence of violations. The quantitative referred to is related to violations that cause differences in vote differences.
Furthermore, it must be possible to distinguish whether the violation falls into the category of administrative violation, criminal election violation, or ethical violation. Once identified, the evidence is resolved in the right place.
For example, violations regarding elections are handled by the Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu). If an ethical violation occurs, it can be immediately punished through a hearing at the Election Organizer Honorary Council (DKPP).
The performance of the General Election Commission (KPU) and the Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu) in overseeing the 2024 General Election (Pemilu) from regional to national level must be appreciated. This is because the KPU and Bawaslu have mobilized all their powers to ensure that citizens participate in the elections. The public must be wise in responding to the issue of alleged fraud in the 2024 elections. Don’t be provoked by certain individuals who trigger social unrest or mass actions that are contrary to the law. We must patiently wait and monitor the final, legitimate results of the 2024 Election from the authorized institutions.
