BIN and a number of elements of the joint apparatus provided security for the 10th WWF Summit in Bali
Jakarta – The holding of the World Water Forum (WWF) Summit or world-level water forum 18-25 May 2024 in Bali, is an opportunity and momentum for Indonesia to once again demonstrate this country’s ability to lead a world-class event.
The country’s success in running this forum cannot be separated from the role of BIN together with the combined TNI, Polri, BSSN, BNPB, Ministries/Agencies and related stakeholders who continue to work together to secure the region, ahead of this international event.
BNPT Principal Secretary (Sestama), Bangbang Surono, said that his party was involved in securing the event. BNPT seeks to prevent acts of terror that could disrupt the international agenda.
“BNPT as the leading sector for countering terror has the task of coordinating and implementing prevention against potential radical acts of terrorism which could have a negative impact on Indonesia’s image in the eyes of the world,” said Bangbang.
Bangbang also explained that his party together with other intelligence elements (BIN and Paspampres) would carry out several activities. One of them is evaluating the assessment of the environmental security system and national vital objects (obvitnas).
“It will also coordinate security forces and the intelligence community, both national and regional,” he explained.
Meanwhile, BNPT Deputy for Prevention, Protection and Deradicalization, Major General TNI Roedy Widodo, explained that a series of security activities were carried out starting from assessing the security system at the main activity locations as well as holding coordination meetings with BIN and intelligence elements in the regions.
“Carrying out intelligence training for regional intelligence officers in charge of WWF security, and inviting the public to take part in making this international event a success,” said Roedy.
Head of the Indonesian National Police (Kapolri) General Pol. Listyo Sigit Prabowo hopes that this international forum will run safely with preventive strikes or preventative action.
“We are trying to be safe, there are no attacks or zero attacks and of course we will take security measures more quickly with preventive strikes,” said Listyo.
The same thing was also conveyed by Karo Penmas, National Police Public Relations Division, Brigadier General Pol. Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko that the National Police will deploy 5,791 personnel to secure and maintain the security, safety and comfort of heads of state, ministers and delegates as well as organizers of the 2024 World Water Forum activities.
“The National Police will also collaborate with Paspampres, TNI, BIN, BNPT, BSSN, BNPB, Ministries/Agencies and related stakeholders to ensure the smoothness and security of the event,” concluded Trunoyudo. [*]
