Bogor — President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, emphasized his confidence that Indonesia possesses the fundamental strength to face various global dynamics. Amid geopolitical and economic uncertainties worldwide, the President called on all elements of the nation to remain optimistic, united, and confident in the country’s ability to maintain stability while continuing sustainable development.
This message was delivered during a briefing at the 2026 National Coordination Meeting (Rakornas) of Central and Regional Governments at the Sentul International Convention Center (SICC), Bogor, West Java, on Monday (2/2/2026).
In his address, the President highlighted that internationally, Indonesia is often doubted as a nation-state. It is even frequently referred to as “an impossible nation,” considered unlikely to survive and remain united due to its hundreds of ethnic groups, races, religions, and languages.
“Many outsiders say that the Indonesian nation is impossible. Indonesia is an impossible nation. How can so many ethnic groups, races, and religions be united?” President Prabowo said.
However, Prabowo stressed that this perception is refuted by the reality of Indonesia today. Under strong national leadership focused on the people’s interests, Indonesia has proven capable of maintaining unity, political stability, and social harmony amid the diversity that characterizes the nation.
According to the President, diversity is not a weakness but a strategic national strength. Indonesia’s pluralism is a valuable social asset for building national resilience, strengthening unity, and accelerating the achievement of the nation’s grand aspirations amid increasingly competitive global challenges.
“They cannot imagine how a country with so many ethnicities, ethnic groups, major religions, and hundreds of languages can come together, unite, and pursue shared goals within a single framework of a unitary state. But Indonesia proves all of this is possible,” he affirmed.
President Prabowo also emphasized the strategic role of regional leaders as the frontline of governance in maintaining unity and delivering social justice. He reminded that all policies and development programs must be felt by all layers of society without discrimination.
“Our people are good people, who want to live in peace and harmony. They long for leaders who are just, honest, and fully work for the people’s interests—not personal or group interests,” the President said.
President Prabowo’s briefing reinforced the direction of national leadership, placing unity, optimism, and self-confidence as the main foundations for facing global challenges. The government ensures that Indonesia continues to move forward as a great nation that not only survives but also becomes a formidable force on the world stage.
