Ahead of the inauguration of the president-elect for 2024-2029 Prabowo Subianto and vice president-elect Gibran Rakabuming Raka as President and Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, the public and the world community are paying attention to how the government is trying to maintain national security stability. The inauguration scheduled for Sunday, October 20, 2024, is a historical momentum for the transition of national leadership, therefore security stability is an absolute must. The inauguration security alert roll call involved various intensive preparations from the security forces, including simulations and alert rolls led by President Joko Widodo at Mako Brimob, Depok, West Java. This preparation is an important moment to maintain security stability during the transition period of government so that it can run safely and smoothly.
In preparation for security, a large roll call was held involving various police units, including the Brimob Corps and Special Detachment 88 (Densus 88). This simulation aims to ensure the readiness of all personnel in facing potential security disturbances that could arise during the inauguration process. President Joko Widodo said that readiness is important in maintaining conduciveness during the inauguration.
The roll call involved thousands of personnel ready to secure the inauguration, including simulations of handling mass demonstrations and securing armed disturbances. With simulations involving handling emergency situations, security forces strive to provide a sense of security for the community and ensure the procession runs smoothly so that the President and Vice President-elect can implement national programs well for the advancement of the nation.
Meanwhile, President Jokowi also asked the security forces to continue their efforts in maintaining political and social stability during this government transition period. Furthermore, security is the main priority in ensuring a peaceful and conducive inauguration. This statement reflects the government’s serious attention to potential security threats that could disrupt the inauguration process.
In addition to government efforts, support from community leaders and community organizations (Ormas) also helped create a more conducive atmosphere. The General Chairperson of PBNU, KH Yahya Cholil Staquf, stated the importance of maintaining harmony and unity in society during this period of government change. He also invited all elements of society to work together to maintain a peaceful atmosphere so that the government transition process runs smoothly.
Support from various groups is expected to be able to reduce potential tensions in the field, especially from parties who are dissatisfied with the election results. The consensus of these national figures reflects a shared awareness that national stability is a key factor in the success of the government transition. Although preparations have been made well, threats to security stability remain a concern. As the largest democracy in Southeast Asia, Indonesia often faces challenges from groups who seek to exploit the moment of power transition for certain interests.
In this case, the security operation codenamed “Operation Mantap Brata” became the vanguard in maintaining security during the inauguration. According to information from the police, the personnel deployed had been specially trained to deal with various possible scenarios. The roll call and simulation conducted at Mako Brimob were one form of intensive preparation.
The success of security does not only depend on the authorities, but also on public participation. National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo said that his party invited all elements of society to participate in maintaining order because public participation in maintaining security and supporting the inauguration process is very important. He also hopes that the public will not be easily provoked by incorrect information.
