JAKARTA – The government has once again reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening national economic independence by accelerating the downstreaming of natural resources (NR). President Prabowo Subianto stated that the establishment of the Nusantara Asset Management Agency (BPI Danantara) is a strategic step to boost investment in various strategic sectors while creating millions of quality jobs for the Indonesian people.

“To accelerate investment in downstreaming and other strategic sectors in order to create quality jobs, together with the House of Representatives we have established Danantara,” the President said in his address.

According to the Head of State, Danantara is designed as an investment management institution with assets under management exceeding USD 1 trillion. By optimizing the management of these assets, the government aims to accelerate the creation of new jobs, particularly in downstream industries that have long been a priority in national development.

“Danantara will create millions of quality jobs. Alhamdulillah, today the national unemployment rate has fallen to its lowest level since the 1998 crisis,” President Prabowo said.

The President also emphasized that this step is being taken amid a turbulent global situation. Yet despite rising global challenges, Indonesia has recorded encouraging achievements. Investment realization in the first half of 2025 reached IDR 942 trillion, an increase of 13.6% compared to the same period last year, meeting the targets set in the 2025 State Budget. According to Prabowo, this investment has absorbed more than 1.2 million workers.

Meanwhile, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of BPI Danantara, Rosan Roeslani, stressed that the institution he leads is fully committed to carrying out the government’s mandate to strengthen strategic investments. He emphasized that natural resource downstreaming is not merely an economic policy but represents a form of modern national struggle.

“Through Danantara, we realize true independence by enabling quality investments, opening opportunities, fostering innovation, and delivering prosperity for all Indonesians,” Rosan stated.

He added that investment will serve as the driving engine for socio-economic development, strengthening strategic industries, creating jobs, and preparing the younger generation to face future challenges.

“This is our path to solidify sovereignty, ensure equity, and transform Indonesia into a resilient, globally competitive, and prosperous nation,” he affirmed.

With the establishment of Danantara, the government is demonstrating its seriousness in building a new economic foundation that goes beyond the export of raw materials, focusing instead on high value-added processing. This policy is expected to become a crucial milestone in Indonesia’s journey toward economic sovereignty while expanding opportunities for public welfare.
