Danantara Partners with Saudi Arabia’s ACWA Power to Realize Clean Energy
Jakarta – The strategic collaboration between Danantara and Saudi Arabia’s largest energy company, ACWA Power, marks a new chapter in the national energy transition efforts towards a cleaner and more sustainable future.
This partnership is a strong signal that Indonesia is increasingly serious about developing renewable energy as the backbone of national development, while strengthening bilateral relations between Indonesia and Saudi Arabia in the green economy sector. In addition, the two officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for a strategic partnership worth USD 10 billion or around IDR 162 trillion.
ACWA Power is believed to bring knowledge, technology, and strategic investment that Indonesia desperately needs to pursue the net zero emissions target by 2060. Through this collaboration, ACWA Power will explore investments in various strategic projects, ranging from renewable energy generators, combined cycle gas turbines, green hydrogen, to water desalination projects.
Danantara CEO, Rosan Roeslani emphasized the importance of this cross-country collaboration to encourage innovation and accelerate the transition to green energy.
“The signing of the MoU worth USD 10 billion or around IDR 162 trillion is a real form of our commitment to support the development of renewable energy in Indonesia,” said Rosan.
Rosan said that this partnership will not only support national priorities in the energy sector, but also provide significant commercial impacts. By combining national resources and cutting-edge technology from international partners, Indonesia is expected to create a sustainable energy ecosystem, strengthen energy security, and at the same time attract more foreign direct investment.
“Our collaboration with ACWA Power is an important step in positioning Indonesia as a key player in the global energy transition. This partnership provides capital and expertise to accelerate high-impact projects in integrated solar, hydrogen, and water energy solutions,” he said.
Previously, during the state visit of the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto last week, the Saudi-Indonesia Supreme Coordination Council was formed, which strengthens institutional coordination to increase the effectiveness of cross-sector cooperation. The council will be the main platform in monitoring the implementation of strategic partnerships in the future.
“We have just formed the Supreme Coordination Council between Saudi and Indonesia. We agreed to increase all cooperation. So, I am very satisfied. Alhamdulillah, it is productive. God willing, we will see an increase in cooperation between us and Saudi Arabia,” concluded Prabowo Subianto.
