Digital Oversight Becomes Key to Strengthening an Anti-Corruption Culture

Jakarta – Digital oversight has now become one of the main keys to strengthening an anti-corruption culture within government institutions. The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) continues to encourage the use of technology to enhance transparency, accountability, and early prevention of corruption.

In this regard, law enforcement alone is considered insufficient to realize clean and effective governance. Therefore, internal supervision through the use of digital technology is expected to spur progress in bureaucratic reform in Indonesia.

As an example, the Ministry of Culture has launched the Anti-Fraud Monitoring Application System (SAMAN) to strengthen the strategic role of its Inspectorate General in overseeing governance within the ministry.

Deputy Chairperson of the KPK, Fitroh Rohcahyanto, stated that with the implementation of information technology, administrative processes become more efficient, transparent, and responsive to public needs. Moreover, good governance innovations can improve public access to information.

“The Inspectorate General of the Ministry of Culture plays a role as an internal supervisor in ensuring that organizational governance runs cleanly and free from corruption,” he said.

Fitroh emphasized that corruption prevention will be effective if it begins with strengthening internal oversight within ministries and government agencies. This effort can help close potential loopholes amid the challenges of the disruptive era.

In line with this, Minister of Culture Fadli Zon stressed that strengthening technology-based oversight is an important part of the bureaucratic reform agenda in the cultural sector. According to him, integrity must not merely be a slogan, but should also be reflected in everyday work practices.

“An anti-corruption culture serves as a bridge between cultural values and the use of technology, especially amid the increasingly complex modes of corruption,” Fadli said.
