Jakarta – The Primetime News program (24/9) on MetroTV raised a crucial topic related to the ongoing transition of the Indonesian government. In the segment titled “Maintaining Stability, Smooth Government Transition and Successful President-Elect Programs”, speakers from economic and political observers highlighted the importance of development continuity and support for the new government that will be led by Prabowo Subianto and his deputy, Gibran Rakabuming Raka.
Director of the School of Global Strategic Studies and UI Economic Observer, Athor Subroto, in his presentation, emphasized how resilient the Indonesian economy is amidst complex global challenges. “In the midst of the onslaught of global supply chain disruptions, Indonesia can still survive and grow compared to other countries, even developed countries like Europe,” said Athor. He also praised President Jokowi’s enthusiasm in building an economy that has yielded positive results. “Mr. Jokowi has such great enthusiasm to grow the Indonesian economy, and that has also been responded to well by the market. Like it or not, in fact our numbers continue to improve.”
Furthermore, Athor emphasized the importance of a smooth transition of government from President Jokowi to Prabowo Subianto. “The commitment to a smooth transition is a good thing so that the quick win of the next government can run quickly. This is something that must be implemented immediately,” he said, emphasizing the urgency so that programs that have been running can be continued well.
Political Economy Observer of Bung Karno University, Faisyal Chaniago, also gave his views by giving appreciation for Jokowi’s 10 years of leadership. “We appreciate President Jokowi whose programs during these 10 years can be felt by all parties, especially the very important downstreaming. This program needs to be supported by the next government,” said Faisyal.
He also emphasized that the transition period must be well-supervised so that development does not stop. “The transition period must be guarded and supervised so that development programs run continuously. Programs such as toll infrastructure must not stop, because development is not enough for just 10 years. Therefore, there must be continuity, synergy, and cooperation,” he added.
