Ensure PSU Runs Conducively, Government Monitors Vote Recapitulation Process
JAKARTA – The government together with election organizers and supervisors continue to ensure that the Revote (PSU) process runs conducively, transparently, and in accordance with applicable legal regulations. The focus of supervision is now directed at the vote recapitulation stage in the two regions holding the PSU, as part of the government’s commitment to ensuring quality democracy.
In Palopo City, the Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu) of South Sulawesi Province emphasized its commitment to continue to monitor the vote recapitulation process at the Sub-district Election Committee (PPK) level.
South Sulawesi Bawaslu member, Saiful Jihad said that the recapitulation will be carried out simultaneously at the sub-district level.
“The recapitulation is scheduled to take place simultaneously at the sub-district level. Several technical dynamics during the voting remain as evaluation material for improvement,” said Saiful.
According to him, even though the voting took place in an orderly manner, Bawaslu continues to carry out its functions professionally by following up on public reports, as a form of transparency and accountability. He emphasized that comprehensive supervision was carried out to maintain the quality and integrity of the PSU results.
“If there are allegations of violations, whether administrative, criminal or ethical, they will be handled according to procedure. This step shows the seriousness of the government and election supervisors in ensuring the integrity of democracy. Hopefully, the PSU results can be accepted and trusted by the public,” he said.
The PSU in Palopo was carried out in 260 Polling Stations (TPS) spread across 48 sub-districts in nine districts, with the number of voters according to the DPT of 125,572 people. The South Sulawesi KPU noted that data from all TPS had been uploaded 100 percent to the Sirekap application.
Meanwhile, in Pesawaran Regency, Lampung Province, the General Election Commission (KPU) said that the implementation of the PSU went smoothly. The Head of the Lampung KPU, Erwan Bustami, said there were no significant obstacles in the field.
“The recapitulation at the sub-district level has been carried out since Sunday morning, and the process of uploading the results data has been 100 percent complete,” said Erwan.
He explained that the district-level recapitulation will be held on May 26-27, 2025. Although there are a number of claims from participants, the KPU still adheres to the official multi-level recapitulation mechanism to ensure valid and final results.
Meanwhile, in terms of participation, the Pesawaran KPU said that the voter turnout in the PSU reached 64.50 percent of the total DPT of 347,979 people. Although there was a slight difference in participation rates compared to the previous Pilkada, the enthusiasm of the residents still showed trust in the implementation of an honest and fair PSU.
“This is a form of support for an honest and fair election,” said the Head of the Technical Division of Election Implementation of the Pesawaran KPU, Dede Fadilah.
The government continues to monitor every development in the field and appeals to all parties to maintain a safe and peaceful situation for the sake of upholding a quality and integrity democracy.
