Jakarta – President Prabowo Subianto emphasized in his State Address at the Annual Session of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR), the House of Representatives (DPR), and the Regional Representatives Council (DPD) that his administration will take firm action against corruption. “We are facing the reality of a massive leak of state assets. There is no other choice but to take decisive action, even though this step may be unpopular with some,” he said.

President Prabowo then emphasized that state budget leakage had been significantly reduced. He stated that the government had managed to save approximately Rp 300 trillion from potential leaks and corruption.

“This is concrete evidence that steps to improve governance are underway,” he said.

Furthermore, he emphasized that corrupt practices occur not only at the top level, but also at the bottom.

“We find corrupt practices not only in the central bureaucracy, but also at the lower echelons, in state-owned enterprises (BUMN), and even regionally-owned enterprises (BUMD). All of this must be eradicated, and law enforcement will be carried out impartially,” he stressed.

Meanwhile, Novita Wijayanti, treasurer of the Gerindra Party faction and member of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), called the policy direction a roadmap for eradicating corruption. “The President’s speech is not just an annual report, but a strategic guideline for realizing a corruption-free Indonesia,” she said.

Novita also added that the success of saving hundreds of trillions of rupiah from budget leaks is a concrete step that deserves appreciation.

“This is clear evidence that his government works for the people, prioritizing efficiency and integrity. We in parliament are ready to fully support these steps to ensure the goal of a corruption-free Indonesia is truly realized,” he said.

He emphasized that political support, public oversight, and consistent law enforcement are determining factors for the success of this major agenda.

“All elements of the nation need to unite to ensure that corruption no longer erodes the future of future generations,” he concluded.
