Several soldiers also began to be seen preparing to reload bullets with other soldiers standing guard behind the tank.
Regarding this matter, previously the Minister of Defense (Menhan) Prabowo Subianto stated that he was stepping in to send aid, increase the number of personnel to the Land of Papua and send sophisticated defense equipment to the soldiers in the near future to eradicate the Egianus Kogoya group which is still rampant in the Papua Mountains.
The deployment of this sophisticated defense equipment is indeed the right choice to quell the increasingly brutal KST Papua, how could it not be that before they took four telecommunication tower workers hostage or the Bakti Kominfo Base Transceiver Station (BTS) in Okbab District, Gunung Bintang Regency, Papua on Friday 12 May 2023 Then. The workers come from PT Inti Bangun Sejahtera. According to information from the Head of Public Relations of the Papua Police, Kombes Ignatius Benny Ady Prabowo, explained that the incident occurred when six BTS workers departed from Oksibil for the Okbab District by using the Eagle Air plane at 08.30 WIT. However, when they arrived at the Okbab Airfield, the group was immediately mugged by five people who claimed to be members of KST Papua.
Of the six people, 2 people were rushed to the Oksibil Hospital (RS) for medical treatment due to injuries, one of which was the Head of the Information and Communication Service Alverus Sanuari and Benyamin Sembiring. Meanwhile four other people were taken hostage by KST Papua, and two others were abused and injured. The four victims include Asmar, Peas Kulka, Senus Lepitalem, and Ferdy. Not only did he take hostages and abuse the hostage victims, according to eyewitnesses who were in Oksibil, KST Papua also asked for a ransom in the form of a large sum of money, it is known that they asked for Rp. 500 million to free the victims.
Even so, according to Benny’s statement, in the steps to free the victims the local government, religious and customary leaders in the Okbab District were also involved in coordination as a mediator effort with KST Papua, negotiation efforts are still ongoing to release the hostages for the safety of all parties, but if indeed these efforts have never produced results, indeed strict action must be taken so that the barbarity of KST Papua stops and doesn’t play with lives arbitrarily.
The behavior of KST Papua, which continues to spread terror to the people, must be completely crushed. The terror started with a series of events when Susi Air Pilot Philip Mark Mehrtens was kidnapped in the Mugi-Mam area, Nduga Regency and spread to the KST Papua attack on TNI-Polri soldiers until they died while on duty. Of course, this series is strong evidence of the savagery of KST Papua to be immediately executed without mercy because it has harmed many parties, especially regarding the disturbed peace and tranquility.
For this reason, the joint security forces of the TNI-Polri and BIN are continuing to make every effort to suppress, completely eradicate KST Papua, which has become a frightening specter for the people. The sophisticated defense equipment deployed to combat them is the right choice so that Earth of Cendrawasih can be peaceful, safe and secure from this armed terror group.
