Former Sritex Employees Reject Provocative Demonstration, Focus on Solutions

Jakarta – The government has confirmed that the process of resolving the rights of PT Sritex workers affected by layoffs has been carried out in accordance with legal mechanisms and has appealed not to be provoked by calls for action that could potentially worsen the situation. Social and economic stability are the main priorities in dealing with the impact of the company’s bankruptcy.
The President of the Indonesian Workers Union Confederation (KSPN), Ristadi stated that his party would not hold a demonstration related to the mass layoffs at PT Sritex. “Sritex workers have shown a conducive attitude in facing this situation. We prioritize advocacy and negotiation strategies as the main steps,” said Ristadi.
This step is a positive example in industrial relations in Indonesia, where the resolution of labor conflicts can be done through dialogue and the right legal approach. KSPN also urged the curator team to prioritize the payment of workers’ severance pay in accordance with applicable regulations.
Minister of Manpower, Yassierli emphasized that the government continues to monitor the resolution of this case so that workers’ rights remain protected. “President Prabowo Subianto has gathered various parties to find the best solution. This shows the government’s seriousness in protecting workers,” Yassierli emphasized.
The government is currently preparing a new scheme that will allow former employees of PT Sritex to return to work under investors who will take over the company’s operations. This certainty will provide peace of mind for workers and prevent wider social impacts.
Minister of State Secretary, Prasetyo Hadi revealed that the curator team is still negotiating with potential investors interested in taking over PT Sritex. “The process of leasing the company’s assets is ongoing, and employees affected by layoffs will be re-registered to ensure they can return to work,” he concluded.
On the other hand, PT Sritex Curator Team, Nurma Sadikin explained that the recruitment process of former employees will be a priority for new investors. “Investors who are interested in renting PT Sritex assets will reabsorb workers affected by layoffs. We also ensure that all workers’ rights can be fulfilled according to applicable regulations,” concluded Nurma.
The government invites all parties to maintain conduciveness in facing the dynamics of the textile industry. With the solutions that have been prepared, it is hoped that no party will feel disadvantaged and the textile industry can rise again with a stronger business model.
