Jayapura – The government continues to strengthen infrastructure development in Papua through various strategic measures. These efforts not only focus on providing basic facilities but also on financing support and the construction of decent housing for the people.

PT Asuransi Kredit Indonesia (Askrindo) has established a partnership with Bank Pembangunan Daerah (BPD) Papua to expand access to construction financing. The signing of this agreement recorded an estimated coverage value of up to IDR 900 billion per year.

Askrindo’s Director of Business, Budhi Novianto, emphasized that this collaboration will have a tangible impact on local businesses and communities.

“With the increased capacity of guaranteed credit distribution, economic opportunities for the people of Papua will be more widely open—ranging from job creation, strengthening family economies, to the growth of new entrepreneurs,” he said.

Budhi added that this partnership is also a concrete form of support for inclusive and sustainable development in Papua, carried out with the spirit of building from the periphery to create equitable prosperity.

Meanwhile, in line with President Prabowo’s directives, the government is prioritizing the construction of 2,200 houses in Papua Pegunungan (Highlands).

Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP), Maruarar Sirait, stressed that the construction of 2,200 housing units is a top priority, consisting of 2,000 units for the community and 200 units for traditional leaders, community leaders, and religious leaders.

“I am confident that we all share the same good intentions in building houses in Papua Pegunungan. Ensure that everything is carried out correctly, in accordance with regulations and proper governance, so that the results can truly benefit the people and drive economic growth,” Maruarar said.

He assessed that the development of decent housing in Papua Pegunungan is a real manifestation of President Prabowo Subianto’s administration, and is expected to improve people’s welfare and reduce poverty levels.

“I continue to hold meetings with Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian and Governor of Papua Pegunungan John Tabo to discuss the follow-up on housing development for the people in Papua Pegunungan,” he added.

Governor of Papua Pegunungan John Tabo expressed his support for the public housing development program in his region. He considered the program as proof of the central government’s commitment to addressing the needs of the Papuan people.

“This is a concrete form of attention from President Prabowo Subianto to the people, and we will fully support its implementation on the ground,” John Tabo said.

Through the combination of guaranteed financing support and the development of decent housing for communities, the government hopes that infrastructure development in Papua will not only strengthen connectivity but also pave the way for inclusive and sustainable economic growth.
