Jakarta – The government continues to encourage the acceleration of the formation of Red and White Village Cooperatives in various regions as part of the national strategy to strengthen village economic independence, expand access to inclusive finance, and accelerate equitable development. This step was taken in line with efforts to revitalize the role of cooperatives as the mainstay of the people’s economy and as a collective forum based on the values of mutual cooperation and nationality.

The Red and White Village Cooperative is designed to be an economic institution based on local potential, while strengthening the social and economic resilience of village communities in facing various challenges, both at the national and global levels. Through this cooperative, the government is targeting the transformation of the village economy from being consumptive to being productive.

The government, through related ministries and institutions, has set a roadmap for the gradual formation of this cooperative. A collaborative approach between the central government, local governments, and non-governmental organizations is the main strategy in implementing this program.

Several regions have started the initiative to form this cooperative with promising results. In areas where it has been running, cooperatives have begun to show positive performance in terms of empowering farmers, increasing the selling value of local products, and strengthening distribution networks. This is proof that the cooperative approach as a driver of the village economy is not just discourse, but also a real solution that has a direct impact on the welfare of residents.

Regional Secretary of Sarolangun, Jambi, Deddy Hendry said that he emphasized the importance of accelerating the establishment of cooperatives as a means of empowering the economy of rural communities. He welcomed the initiative from the Jambi Kemenkum Regional Office and expressed his commitment to fully support the process of establishing the Merah Putih Cooperative in the Sarolangun area.

“The process of issuing cooperative deeds and Decrees (SK) must be simplified and accelerated so that the community can immediately feel the benefits. We hope that there is a strong commitment from the notaries involved to participate in making this program a success,” said Deddy.

In addition, the Head of the Jambi Legal Services Division, Kortini, said that the establishment of the Merah Putih Cooperative is part of a national priority program in strengthening the structure of the people’s economy based on law.

“Cross-sector collaboration is the key to its successful implementation,” said Kortini.

On the other hand, DPD RI Member from West Java, Aanya Rina Casmayanti encouraged the acceleration of the establishment of the Red and White Cooperative (KMP) in all villages in West Java.

“The Red and White Cooperative must be a legacy, not just an inscription. This is a new era, where villages are the center of development. Don’t let this program just be a name without real results,” she said.
