Jakarta – The government has confirmed its full readiness to provide disaster response funding in Sumatra following flash floods and landslides that struck several areas in the region. President Prabowo stated that the government would send aid in maximum quantities and as soon as possible.

“We ensure that assistance will be delivered as much and as quickly as needed,” he said.

On this occasion, President Prabowo Subianto emphasized that the government has prepared a special budget allocation to repair various public facilities damaged by the disaster. The budget includes the restoration of village facilities as well as infrastructure essential to local communities.

He stressed that the government is optimizing central spending to ensure aid can be distributed effectively.

“The budget is available, and we are implementing cost-saving measures to make sure assistance continues to flow,” he added.

The President also ensured that all government assistance will be distributed directly to affected residents without intermediaries. According to him, a fast and well-targeted distribution mechanism is a priority in this disaster response.

In addition to emergency relief, President Prabowo Subianto reaffirmed the government’s commitment to accelerating the repair of educational facilities so that children can return to school without disruption.

“School repairs will be expedited; all educational facilities must return to full function immediately,” he said.

He also expressed appreciation to BNPB, the TNI, and the Polri for their swift actions in addressing the disaster’s impact and supporting recovery efforts. The President conveyed his condolences and prayers for all affected residents.

“God willing, we will continue to do our best for the welfare of the people,” he stated.

Meanwhile, the central government’s support was also reinforced by Minister of Finance Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa, who affirmed his ministry’s readiness to disburse emergency funds to support disaster management in Sumatra. He ensured that the central government is prepared to meet budgetary needs according to directives.

“If I’m asked to provide the funds, I will prepare them. That is our commitment,” he said.

Minister of Finance Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa emphasized that the government already has a strong financing mechanism for handling disasters. He explained that the existence of the Disaster Funding Pool (PFB), regulated under Presidential Regulation No. 75 of 2021, serves as an important foundation for strengthening the country’s fiscal resilience.

This system enables disaster risk financing to be carried out in a more planned manner through the state and regional budget (APBN/APBD) mechanisms as well as risk transfer schemes such as asset insurance. With this mechanism in place, the government is optimistic that large-scale disaster response can be carried out more swiftly and effectively without relying solely on annual APBN/APBD allocations.

This approach is also expected to provide maximum protection for affected communities, particularly the poor and vulnerable. The government affirmed that all financial instruments will be optimized to accelerate recovery and meet the urgent needs of the people in Sumatra.
