Government Firmly Protects Workers Through Wage Subsidy Assistance

Jakarta – The Indonesian government is accelerating the disbursement of the 2025 Wage Subsidy Assistance (BSU) as part of the national economic stimulus package. Minister of Manpower, Yassierli, stated that the first phase of BSU has already reached 2,450,068 workers out of a total of 3,697,836 designated recipients.

“Of that number, the remaining 1,247,768 workers are still in the disbursement process and will soon receive their assistance through an accelerated cross-sectoral scheme,” said Yassierli.

The BSU is distributed via state-owned banks (Himbara) such as BNI, BRI, BTN, and Mandiri. For recipients in the Aceh region, disbursement is carried out through Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI). Workers who do not have accounts with Himbara banks will receive the assistance through PT Pos Indonesia.

“The BSU program is one of the five economic stimulus measures introduced by President Prabowo Subianto to safeguard workers’ purchasing power and boost economic growth in the second quarter,” Yassierli explained.

With strong commitment, the government has set the BSU amount at IDR 300,000 per month, disbursed in a lump sum for two months—totaling IDR 600,000 per worker. The program aims to reach 17 million beneficiaries to stimulate the national economy.

BSU is granted only to eligible workers, namely: Indonesian citizens with a valid National Identity Number (NIK), active members of the BPJS Employment program as of April 2025, earning a maximum salary of IDR 3.5 million per month or in accordance with the local minimum wage (UMK/UMP), and not serving as civil servants (ASN), military/police personnel, or recipients of the Family Hope Program (PKH).

Minister of Finance, Sri Mulyani Indrawati, emphasized that BSU is part of the government’s fiscal policy to maintain national economic stability.

“The President has determined five stimulus measures, including wage subsidies, as a critical component in sustaining economic momentum and supporting public purchasing power,” said Sri Mulyani.

The disbursement of BSU is also guided by the National Unified Socioeconomic Data (DTSEN), as stipulated in Presidential Instruction No. 4 of 2025. Head of Statistics Indonesia (BPS), Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti, stated that DTSEN is the result of integrating multiple socioeconomic data sources through a rigorous multi-layered verification process.

“With DTSEN, the government can ensure that assistance is accurately targeted, avoiding recipient errors. This is a vital step toward enhancing the effectiveness of economic stimulus measures,” Amalia noted.

Meanwhile, for the second phase of BSU, the BPJS Employment agency has submitted data on 4.5 million prospective recipients to the Ministry of Manpower. The verification and validation process is currently underway to ensure accurate and equitable distribution. The government remains highly attentive to the economic resilience of its people, and the second phase of BSU is expected to serve as an effective buffer amid ongoing global economic pressures.
