Jakarta – The government has officially launched Garuda Schools simultaneously in 16 locations across Indonesia. This program is part of President Prabowo Subianto’s Fastest Results Program (PHTC), which aims to bring equal access to excellent education to remote areas.

Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Mendiktisaintek), Brian Yuliarto, stated that Garuda Schools embody President Prabowo’s grand vision to build integrated, superior schools in every district.

“Garuda Schools are built on three main pillars: equalizing access for all children of the nation, incubating leaders towards a Golden Indonesia 2045, and integrating quality education with community service,” said Brian.

According to him, Garuda Schools are divided into two schemes: New Garuda Schools, built in areas with limited access, and Transformation Garuda Schools, which develop existing superior schools.

“This program is a long-term investment to produce an intelligent and globally competitive generation,” he emphasized.

Deputy Minister of Education, Science, and Technology, Prof. Stella Christie, added that Garuda Schools are a perfect complement to the orchestration of national education transformation. These schools also expand access to inclusive, superior education and prepare the golden generation of 2045.

“This program cultivates science and technology talents from high-achieving children throughout the country,” she said.

Stella explained that the program is supported by three main pillars: equal opportunities for achievement, leadership character development, and improving academic achievement accompanied by a spirit of service.

“By 2029, the government targets to develop 80 Garuda Transformation Schools and build 20 New Garuda Schools,” she added.

Meanwhile, Minister of Communication and Digital, Meutya Hafid, who was present in Ambon, emphasized the government’s commitment to expanding superior education to the eastern region. The government is encouraging the strengthening of STEM-based learning to develop future digital talent.

“The Garuda School in Siwalima emphasizes the government’s commitment to equitable education. We want Indonesian children to be not only intelligent, but also have character,” he said.

This inauguration includes 12 Garuda Transformation Schools, such as SMAN Unggulan MH Thamrin (Jakarta), SMA Taruna Nusantara (Central Java), and SMA Averos Sorong (Southwest Papua), as well as four new Garuda Schools in East Belitung, South Central Timor, South Konawe, and Bulungan.

With the presence of the Garuda Schools, the government hopes to produce a generation of young Indonesians who are intelligent, have character, and are globally competitive.
