Government Launches KUR Housing Program, a Real Proof of Support for the People

Jakarta – The government has officially launched the People’s Business Credit (KUR) for Housing as a concrete step to expand access to financing for low-income communities while simultaneously stimulating the national economy.

The program was launched in Surabaya by Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto at the Mass Agreement for People’s Business Credit (KUR) for 800,000 Debtors to Create Jobs and the Launch of the Housing Credit Program (KPP).

“The government launched the KPP with the hope of increasing the construction of new homes and home renovations for the public,” said Airlangga.

The government has allocated IDR 130 trillion, consisting of IDR 113 trillion for the supply sector, such as contractors and developers, and IDR 17 trillion for the demand sector, or beneficiaries.

On a separate occasion, Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP), Maruarar Sirait, called the KUR Housing Program a major breakthrough in supporting the public housing sector.

“The state has allocated Rp 130 trillion for the Housing Business Credit (KUR). The interest is subsidized at 5 percent. So, if the bank’s loan is 11 percent, the subsidy is 6 percent. That’s excellent,” he said.

This interest subsidy scheme allows MSMEs to apply for loans of up to Rp 500 million at 6 percent interest.

According to Maruarar, this program also strengthens the economic well-being of low-income families, especially housewives running small businesses.

“We can’t just build and renovate their homes; we also need to support their families’ economic well-being,” he said.

This policy demonstrates that housing development is not just about providing housing, but also serves as an instrument for stimulating the people’s economy.

Through the Housing Business Credit (KUR), the government is encouraging a balance between improving family welfare and sustainable national economic growth.

“This program is a real solution to addressing unemployment,” he emphasized.

The Housing Business Credit (KUR) is implemented through a collaboration between the Ministry of PKP, PNM Mekaar, Bank BRI, and SMF. This program is regulated by Coordinating Ministerial Regulation No. 13 of 2025 and Ministerial Regulation No. 13 of 2025 on PKP, targeting developers, contractors, and individuals who want to purchase or renovate productive homes.

Meanwhile, West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi assessed that this program has a significant multiplier effect on the regional economy.

“Every house built involves contractors, foremen, workers, building material stores, and MSMEs in the surrounding area,” he said.

The Housing KUR program is clear evidence of the government’s commitment to the people, providing policies that not only build homes but also build prosperity. ##
