Government Launches Nationwide School Health Check Program to Strengthen Student Health Foundation
JAKARTA – The government officially launched the School Free Health Check Program (CKG Sekolah) simultaneously on Monday, August 4, 2025, across 12 schools located in various regions of Indonesia. This initiative marks a concrete step toward strengthening promotive and preventive health services for students, who represent the nation’s next generation.
Adita Irawati, Senior Expert at the Presidential Communications Office (PCO), stated that the program aligns with President Prabowo Subianto’s vision to develop Indonesia’s human capital from an early age.
“CKG Sekolah is a long-term investment in the health sector for children and adolescents,” said Adita.
The program targets 53.8 million students from 282,000 educational institutions, including elementary, junior high, and high schools, as well as madrasahs and Sekolah Rakyat (People’s Schools). It forms part of the Quick Best Outcomes Program in the health sector, aiming to reach all 281 million Indonesian citizens. As of August 1, 2025, more than 16 million people have benefited from CKG services.
After its initial rollout at Sekolah Rakyat on July 14, 2025, CKG Sekolah is now expanding to formal education institutions under both the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education and the Ministry of Religious Affairs. The program has been well received as a proactive government initiative to uphold children’s right to health.
Hasan Nasbi, Head of the Presidential Communications Office, emphasized the need to shift public perception regarding health checks.
“Even when healthy, people should be encouraged to visit health facilities for free check-ups—to prevent serious issues before it’s too late,” Hasan stated.
He added that taking a proactive approach by bringing health checks directly to schools is an effective strategy for early detection.
“The goal is to identify potential health risks in children as early as possible—before they develop into more serious problems in the future,” he concluded.
This initiative strengthens the overall health foundation of students and underscores the government’s commitment to cultivating a culture of healthy living starting from school age.
