Regarding this, the Secretary of the Directorate General of Strategic Infrastructure of the Ministry of Public Works, Essy Asiah emphasized that her party continues to make quality the main priority in executing all government programs, especially Public Schools.

“We will not abandon quality in terms of building, of course quality is number one,” said Essy.

Essy explained that the initial stage of development includes the implementation of renovation of existing facilities as a transition before permanent construction begins.

In stage 1A, as many as 65 locations of Job Training Centers owned by the Ministry of Social Affairs, local governments, and universities have begun to be renovated with progress reaching 90.72% as of July 3, 2025.

However, two locations were excluded because of their extreme geographical conditions and are still used for learning activities.

Furthermore, Minister of Public Works Dody Hanggodo added that the construction of permanent People’s Schools will begin in September 2025 with a projected cost of up to IDR 200 billion per school.

“One location is around IDR 200 billion for 100 schools,” explained Dody while reviewing the pilot building at Sentra Handayani Jakarta on June 29, 2025.

The building will stand on a minimum of six hectares of land and is projected to be able to accommodate up to a thousand students for various levels, from elementary to high school, complete with teacher dormitories, sports fields, and ceremonial halls.

Dody ensured that the government only accepts construction sites with clear land status and free from disputes.

“So what we receive, the letters must all be in order,” he said.

The construction in the next stage will be completed before the 2026 school year begins.

According to Dody, investment in the education sector is important to be able to create a superior generation in the future.

Meanwhile, the Director General of Digital Infrastructure of the Ministry of Komdigi Wayan Toni Su-priyanto ensured that the People’s School will be equipped with a 100 Mbps internet connection.
