Government Reaffirms Zero Tolerance for Drug Kingpins
Jakarta – The Indonesian government has reaffirmed its uncompromising commitment to eradicating narcotics, stressing that there is no room for drug kingpins in the country.
This strong stance was conveyed by National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, who emphasized that law enforcement officers will take firm action against narcotics offenders who threaten the nation’s future.
“There is zero tolerance, and no space should be given to drug kingpins in this country,” the Police Chief asserted.
He also expressed appreciation for the significant drug busts carried out by the police and other related agencies. According to him, these efforts are vital contributions to supporting the government’s broader goal of developing high-quality human resources in the journey toward a Golden Indonesia.
“I hope large-scale operations continue in the future to prevent drugs from entering our country, so that our young generation remains protected from this threat,” he added.
Echoing the same sentiment, Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs (Menko Polhukam) General (Ret.) Budi Gunawan called on all sectors of society to actively participate in drug prevention and eradication efforts.
“To the youth of Indonesia, you have a bright future. Do not use drugs—they will destroy your life and future,” he warned.
The Minister also highlighted the vital role of parents and educators in monitoring and educating children about the dangers of drug abuse. He encouraged the public not to hesitate in reporting any suspicious drug-related activities in their communities.
“We ask for the support of the public and the media to join forces in saving the next generation from the dangers of narcotics,” he stated.
On the same occasion, Menko Polhukam reported the results of the Narcotics Eradication Task Force, which has seized various types of drugs—including methamphetamine, marijuana, ecstasy, and cocaine—worth an estimated total of IDR 1 trillion.
“This shows that our drug eradication efforts are becoming more systematic and are directly targeting the main distribution networks,” he explained.
Meanwhile, the Head of the National Narcotics Board (BNN), Commissioner General Marthinus Hukom, reported that so far, the agency has uncovered 14 major cases, confiscated over one ton of narcotics, and arrested 37 suspects.
BNN is also handling drug-related money laundering cases, with total assets seized reaching IDR 100 billion.
“This is part of the collective work of the Narcotics Eradication Task Force under the coordination of the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs,” he clarified.
