Government Strengthens JKP and Job Training to Protect Workers

0

Jakarta — The government continues to strengthen its commitment to improving worker protection and empowerment by optimizing Job Loss Insurance (JKP) services and strengthening job training programs. This effort is a strategic step to ensure workers remain protected and remain competitive amidst the ever-evolving dynamics of the labor market.

The JKP program serves as a social protection instrument that provides benefits in the form of cash assistance, access to job market information, and training for workers who experience layoffs. In this context, the Minister of Manpower, Yassierli, emphasized the need to improve the quality of public services at the Ministry of Manpower to make them more accessible to the public.

Various services such as JKP, job training, and the job market are prioritized to ensure optimal worker access. These services must be available quickly, easily, and responsively because they directly relate to community needs. Therefore, improving service quality is a serious focus for all levels of the Ministry of Manpower.

“I want services to be seamless. Conditions are indeed challenging, and I don’t want any more problematic services and applications, downtime, or unreachable contact information,” said Yassierli.

Concurrently, strengthening job training continues to be encouraged through the revitalization of job training centers, the development of industry-based curricula, and the expansion of partnerships with the private sector. Training focuses not only on technical skills but also on strengthening soft skills relevant to the demands of the modern workforce.

Previously, the Chief of the Indonesian National Police, Listyo Sigit Prabowo, emphasized that the National Police (Polri) is not only tasked with maintaining security and stability, but also plays an active role in supporting improvements in the quality of life for workers. The utilization of the National Police School (SPN) facilities is also provided as an opportunity to support vocational training for the workforce.

“This program is expected to improve the competence and skills of the Indonesian workforce so they are better prepared to face global challenges and competition,” said National Police Chief Listyo Sigit.

This service strengthening is also supported by the use of information technology, which allows for a more efficient and transparent process for registration and benefit distribution. Data integration between agencies also accelerates aid distribution and improves the accuracy of beneficiary identification.

Through these steps, JKP services and job training are expected to become the foundation for creating a resilient, competent, and competitive workforce, while simultaneously encouraging improved worker welfare in Indonesia.***
