Holds Rapimnas V, PPP Discusses 2024 Political Direction and Dynamics
Sleman – The United Development Party (PPP) held the V National Leadership Meeting (Rapimnas) in Sleman, Yogyakarta, on Tuesday (25/04/2023).
The meeting discussed two agendas, namely PPP’s internal readiness in facing the 2024 election contestation and national political dynamics, particularly support for the 2024 Presidential Candidates (Capres) and Vice Presidential Candidates (Cawapres).
Plt. PPP General Chair, Muhamad Mardiono said, one of the meeting agendas was to ensure that the preparations of all PPP cadres in facing the 2024 Election contestation were going well, both administratively and technically.
Furthermore, Mardiono also revealed that this meeting also followed up PPP’s political stance in dealing with national political dynamics.
“This meeting also followed up on PPP’s political stance in dealing with national political dynamics, starting from the political issues of open/closed elections, the issue of postponing elections, as well as issues that are of concern to many groups, namely the presidential and vice presidential candidates,” added Mardiono.
According to him, PPP is currently very open in contesting the 2024 Election, including in supporting the 2024 Presidential and Vice Presidential candidacy.
“With the dynamics of national politics which are currently running very dynamically, we must be ready to work together with internal and external parties for common goals for the sake of progress and mutual benefit,” added Mardiono.
Even though PPP is part of the United Indonesia Coalition (KIB), he continued, this would not interfere with PPP’s choices or political stance in supporting a particular presidential candidate.
On the same occasion, PPP Secretary General Arwani Thomafi appealed, apart from having to prepare legislative candidates from the DPR RI to DPRD levels, all cadres must also prepare presidential and cawapres candidates.
“Several names of figures have been officially declared by political parties as presidential candidates. In addition, several figures have also strengthened to become vice presidential candidates, even though they have not been officially declared,” said Arwani.
Arwani said, considering that PPP is currently part of KIB, PPP must also take strategic steps so as not to lose momentum. One of the interesting national political dynamics is the presidential and vice presidential candidates.
According to him, it has been decided that the election will still be carried out with an open system, so there is no need for further polemics at the lower levels. Apart from that, there is no longer any talk of postponing elections.
The V PPP Rapimnas was attended by around 100 people, including Zarkasih Nur (Chairman of the PPP DPP Honorary Council), HM Romahurmuziy (Chairman of the PPP DPP Advisory Council), Ade Irfan Pulungan (Chairman of the PPP DPP Party Court), and Hj. Mundjidah Wahab (Regent of Jombang / East Java PPP Cadre).
