Aceh — Hundreds of young Acehnese dancers are busy practicing for a special performance that will be held at the inauguration of the Aneuk Muda Aceh Unggul Hebat (AMANAH) Building. Preparations for this event are increasingly mature after intensive practice over the past few days.

Melissa Franklien Regina, one of the dance instructors, said that preparations for the opening ceremony have reached around 70 percent. “The rehearsals for the opening ceremony have been going on for six days, starting from the audition process until now,” Melissa said on Monday, August 26, 2024.

AMANAH previously opened online registration for dancer auditions, with the requirement that participants be between 16 and 30 years old and open to both men and women. The auditions involved selection by a number of dance experts, including Denny Malik, Mira Natalia, Agustinus Dwi Kriswanto, Asep Nugraha, and Furqon Azamsyah, as well as Melissa.

Melissa revealed that the abilities of the dancers who auditioned were very satisfying. “Their enthusiasm and talent are very high. They show extraordinary enthusiasm and desire to learn, and have hidden talents in dancing,” said Melissa.

The dancers involved in the project received training from a team of national and local trainers, and they also collaborated with local dancers from local studios for the rapai geleng dance. “We are very proud to be able to work with local trainers and young people from Aceh,” Melissa added.

This colossal art performance is designed for the inauguration of the AMANAH Building located in the Aceh Industrial Area, Ladong, Aceh Besar, and will be attended directly by President Joko Widodo.

The show will combine elements of music, dance, and other arts in a spectacular format, blending traditional Acehnese culture with modern and youthful elements. Melissa said that the concept of the show can still be developed according to the needs of the event, maintaining a balance between modern innovation and traditional culture.

“We will continue to develop performances in line with current trends, but still respect the elements of Aceh’s original culture,” said Melissa.

This exercise was also witnessed by a number of State Intelligence Agency (BIN) officials, including the former Main Secretary of BIN, Police Commissioner General (ret.) Bambang Sunarwibowo.

AMANAH itself is a flagship program of President Joko Widodo run by BIN, aiming to accommodate the creativity and potential of the young generation of Aceh. In the future, AMANAH activities will be focused on the AMANAH Building or Aceh Youth Creative Hub (AYCH) which will soon be inaugurated.
