Labuan Bajo – Indonesia is preparing to hold the ASEAN 2023 Summit, the Government continues to ensure readiness, including telecommunication network infrastructure facilities in Labuan Bajo. Until now, almost 100 percent of all 4G and 5G internet networks have been covered.
Head of the PPI Ditdal Telecommunication Monitoring Center Team, Indra Apriadi explained that 4G and 5G networks have been covered in Labuan Bajo. For 4G in residential areas it has covered more than 90 percent.
“Regarding 4G cellular services, it is 94.51% and there are already 5G signals at several points,” Indra said. In addition, he explained that there were already 1,638 BTS in the area, consisting of 1,635 4G BTS and 3 5G BTS. Fiber optic networks are also available along 3,773.73 km.
Telecommunications Operators, particularly the Telkom Group, are also continuing to make preparations for the holding of the Summit. Including providing BTS Compat and upgrading a number of existing BTS in the Golomari and Labuan Bajo areas.
The government continues to ensure the readiness of internet service infrastructure by maximizing the Telecommunications Monitoring Center from Kominfo as well as monitoring the infrastructure and quality of telecommunications services during the Summit.
In particular, Plt. PPI Director General of the Ministry of Communication and Information Ismail said that for the holding of the 2023 ASEAN Summit, the Ministry of Communication and Information had also prepared an adequate infrastructure network.
“For the 2023 ASEAN Summit in Labuan Bajo, East Nusa Tenggara, Kominfo has ensured the readiness of telecommunications network infrastructure in the region. There is a 3,773.73 km Fiber Optic (FO) network with 2,055 Optical Distribution Points (ODP). In addition, there are 1,635 BTS 4G and 3 BTS 5G,” said Ismail.
Regarding the quality of network services, Acting Director General Ismail stated that in Labuan Bajo, where the G20 event was held, 4G and 5G telecommunications networks have been served. There are even fixed broadband operators.
The Ministry of Communication and Informatics also continues to monitor the quality of cellular telecommunication networks. Even telecommunications service providers have taken anticipatory steps to upgrade their network by providing a Combat Base Transceiver Station (BTS).
