Jakarta – Indonesia and China have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening their strategic partnership to create a peaceful, safe, and prosperous region. This emerged during the official visit of Chinese Prime Minister Li Qiang to Jakarta and his meeting with the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, in order to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries.

President Prabowo emphasized the importance of collaboration between Indonesia and China in maintaining regional stability and development. According to him, the synergy between the two countries will be a strong foundation for regional peace and prosperity.

“Indonesia is ready to create a safe and prosperous region. Indonesia is ready to strengthen cooperation with China so that together we can create a peaceful region that is safe for all,” said President Prabowo in a bilateral meeting that took place warmly and full of friendly spirit.

Meanwhile, Chinese Prime Minister Li Qiang conveyed warm greetings from President Xi Jinping to President Prabowo.

He emphasized that the Indonesia-China relationship is now entering a more strategic and in-depth phase.

“First of all, I would like to convey warm greetings and best wishes from President Xi Jinping to His Excellency the President,” Li Qiang said.

He also reminded that Prabowo’s visit to Beijing in November last year had become an important milestone in relations between the two countries.

“During His Excellency the President’s visit to China in November last year, our two heads of state reached an important consensus on building a China-Indonesia community with a shared future that has regional and global influence,” Li Qiang explained.

During this visit, the two sides signed four memorandums of understanding (MoU) and agreed on eight points of strategic cooperation covering various fields, from the economy, investment, infrastructure to the development of industrial areas.

The Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, Airlangga Hartarto, explained that this agreement was a concrete follow-up to previous high-level talks between President Prabowo and President Xi Jinping.

“The signing of these two memorandums is a follow-up to the agreement between the President of the Republic of Indonesia and the President of the PRC that was made at the previous bilateral meeting, and reflects a shared commitment to encourage inclusive and sustainable economic growth,” said Airlangga.

Furthermore, Airlangga emphasized that this strategic cooperation not only strengthens bilateral relations, but also opens up a wide space for the transformation of the national industry.

“This MoU not only shows the joint commitment of Indonesia and China in deepening economic cooperation, but also opens up a wide space for the entry of high-quality investment, value-added industrial transformation, and the development of integrated industrial areas that are globally competitive,” he concluded.

The cooperation between Indonesia and China has so far shown real results, ranging from large infrastructure projects such as the Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Train to increasing the value of trade and investment between the two countries. With the signing of the MoU and this latest strategic agreement, the two countries are increasingly establishing themselves as key partners in creating stability in the Asia-Pacific region.

This step also confirms Indonesia’s position as a regional power that is active in peace and development diplomacy, as well as the government’s commitment to maintaining productive and mutually beneficial international relations.
