“Indonesia Reaffirms Humanitarian Leadership, Sends 800 Tons of Aid to Palestine”
Jakarta – The Government of Indonesia has once again demonstrated its commitment to supporting the struggle of the Palestinian people by sending 800 tons of humanitarian aid for residents of Gaza. The aid was dispatched through a humanitarian mission departing from Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base.
The departure ceremony was led by Indonesian Armed Forces (TNI) Commander General Agus Subiyanto, who oversaw two C-130J Super Hercules aircraft of the Indonesian Air Force. This mission is a direct follow-up to President Prabowo Subianto’s order for Indonesia to play an active role in delivering humanitarian assistance to Palestine via Jordan.
General Agus Subiyanto explained that the Garuda Merah Putih II Task Force would deliver the aid using two Hercules aircraft from Air Squadron 31, with a total of 66 personnel consisting of TNI members, government institutions, and national media representatives. The aid was provided by the National Amil Zakat Agency (Baznas) along with food supplies from the Ministry of Defense.
“Approximately 800 tons of aid will be delivered through an airdrop method. This is a concrete form of Indonesia’s solidarity with the people of Gaza, who are currently suffering from hunger due to Israel’s acts of terrorism and genocide,” said Agus.
Secretary General of the Ministry of Defense, Lieutenant General Tri Budi Utomo, added that the aid includes food, medicines, blankets, and various other logistical supplies. Most of the aid has already been staged in Jordan, awaiting distribution.
“This mission carries strategic significance, as it demonstrates Indonesia’s humanitarian commitment, which also coincides with the 80th Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia,” he explained.
He noted that the Royal Jordanian Air Force had mapped out 10 safe airdrop points that had undergone strict security checks. According to him, airdrop distribution is the safest option given the ongoing conflict.
Meanwhile, Baznas Chairman Noor Achmad revealed that out of the total 800 tons of logistics, 350 tons are already in Egypt while the remainder is in Jordan. The aid will be transported in several sorties using the Super Hercules, each capable of carrying about 20 tons per flight.
“We already have 350 tons of supplies in Egypt and additional supplies in Jordan, so they are ready to be distributed,” he said.
Noor also expressed appreciation to all parties involved, including the Indonesian embassies in Egypt and Jordan as well as Baznas’ partner organizations in both countries. “Our friends in Gaza are in urgent need of this aid. We hope Israel does not carry out indiscriminate attacks,” he said.
With this aid mission, Indonesia once again proves its role as a nation committed to defending humanity and global justice. This mission is expected to help ease the suffering of Gaza residents and serve as a moral message for the world to unite in supporting Palestine.
