Indonesia Successfully Pushes Energy Transition for Developing Countries in ISF 2024

Jakarta – Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan gave a presentation during a discussion session at the 2024 Indonesia International Sustainability Forum (ISF) at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC), Jakarta.

The discussion session took the theme Advancing Energy Transition in Emerging Economies.

Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan said that through the ISF event, the Indonesian Government confirmed its commitment to realizing joint collaboration so that the greenhouse gas effect and decarbonization (Net Zero Emissions/NZE) can be realized.

“Indonesia has proven that developing countries can also drive the advancement of the energy transition,” said Luhut.

The Indonesian government has previously demonstrated its commitment to realizing the NZE stated in the Paris Agreement through the Enhanced-Nationally Determined Contribution (E-NDC) of 912 million tons by 2030.

During the ISF 2024 press conference, Luhut said that there were almost 11,000 participants attending the ISF forum.

“This is the second year of ISF and I am very happy that this event was successful and the number of participants who registered was much more than last year. This year there were almost 11,000 participants,” said Luhut.

Previously, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) said that Indonesia is very open to partnering with anyone to maximize the potential for a greener world.

“Providing equitable access to green energy, and encouraging inclusive and sustainable economic growth,” said Jokowi.

Meanwhile, the 4th plenary session presented speakers RGE Director Anderson Tanoto, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries President Director Toru Yoshioka, President of APAC, LONGI Group Dennis She, Suntech Chairman Wu Fei, PLN President Director Wiluyo Kusdwiharto and BNEF CEO Jon Moore.

The fourth plenary session discussion of the Indonesia International Sustainability Forum (ISF) 2024 at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC) Senayan, Jakarta, discussed Transitioning the Power Sector to Zero Emissions.

The ISF 2024 Forum is an official event for the Indonesian Government for world leaders from various sectors and countries to exchange ideas and knowledge while providing solutions and best practices in dealing with climate change.

The grand event which lasted for two days included a number of agendas starting from the main session presenting keynote speakers, Plenary, Thematic, High Level Dialogue, Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) Signing, Exhibition, to Gala Dinner.
