Bali – Indonesia emphasizes its commitment to being part of the global solution, which has not changed since the holding of the Asia Africa Conference in Bandung, Indonesia in 1955.

This was conveyed by the President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo at the High Level Forum for Multi-Stakeholder Partnerships (HLF MSP) and the 2nd Indonesia-Africa Forum (IAF) 2024 in Bali.

“Indonesia is committed to being part of the global solution, defending the interests of the Global South while also being a bridge builder in fighting for equality, justice, and solidarity in accelerating the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This is a commitment that Indonesia has consistently carried since the Asia-Africa Conference 69 years ago,” Jokowi explained.

Jokowi emphasized that all delegates present at the 2nd HLF MSP and IAF wanted to create positive changes in the midst of a world full of challenges, both challenges related to economic slowdown, unemployment rates, and inflation that have not improved, as well as ongoing geopolitical tensions that have caused many casualties and disrupted the global supply chain.

However, the President of the Republic of Indonesia said that at times like this, international solidarity is actually decreasing, the spirit of multilateralism is increasingly being sidelined and fragmentation is widening.

“Ultimately, developing countries are the ones that are most affected. Millions of people in developing countries are the ones who are feeling the most hardship,” he said.

In fact, said Jokowi, there are only six years left until the 2030 SDGs and only 17 percent of the SDGs targets have been achieved.

Therefore, he emphasized the need for a new direction and vision as well as new strategies and tactical steps to realize fairer and more inclusive development for developing countries.

For information, Indonesia has succeeded in reaching an investment agreement in the health sector at the High-Level Forum on Multi-Stakeholder Partnerships (HLF MSP) and the 2nd Indonesia-Africa Forum (IAF) Joint Leaders Session 2024. The total value reached US$94.1 million.
This agreement was signed through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Indonesia and several African countries, including Kenya, Nigeria, Uganda, Zimbabwe, Ghana, Tanzania, South Africa, and Namibia.
This was stated by the Director of Africa, Directorate General of Asia, Pacific and Africa, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Kemlu) Dewi Justicia Meidiwaty, Monday (2/9/2024) in Nusa Dua, Bali.
A number of leading Indonesian companies were also said to be involved in this collaboration, including PT Biofarma, Biofarma Group, Dexa Medica, Triton, and PT Pertiwi Agung (Mensa Group).

Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi expressed her appreciation to all participating countries’ representatives who attended, this meeting encourages development through innovative financing, which is the key to achieving sustainable development goals effectively.

“Indonesia appreciates all representatives of the countries present, the forum provided many notes of achievements to encourage development through innovative and inclusive financing to achieve sustainable goals,” he said.

This forum is a strategic platform to strengthen inclusive and innovative partnership solidarity in facing global challenges and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (TPB/SDGs) in 2030.

The High-Level Forum on Multi-Stakeholder Partnerships (HLF MSP) or High-Level Forum on Multi-Stakeholder Partnerships 2024 is a momentum for Indonesia to demonstrate global leadership.
