Indonesia Takes Advantage of Host Status of the 43rd ASEAN Summit to Discuss Security Cooperation

The 43rd ASEAN Summit will take place at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC), Central Jakarta from 5-7 September 2023 and will be attended by around 26 countries.

Apart from ASEAN member countries, other delegations included from Australia, India, China, Japan, the Republic of Korea, the Russian Federation, the United States, Canada, to representatives of the United Nations (UN).

On a different occasion, the Director General of Information and Public Communication of the Ministry of Communication and Informatics (Dirjen IKP Kemenkominfo) Usman Kansong said, apart from important issues for developing countries in ASEAN, the 43rd ASEAN Summit also discussed follow-up issues related to wider cooperation with countries outside the region.

“At the summit, several themes will be discussed, including the Code of Conduct regarding the South China Sea, then also the South East Asia Nuclear Weapon Free Zone or SEANFWZ, then also the ASEAN Maritime Outlook, ASEAN Outlook in Indo Pacific or (AOIP) and of course the issue of related to Myanmar,” said Usman.

Usman said that later there would be a number of side events or side events held at the week of the 43rd ASEAN Summit, including the ASEAN Business Summit which was held by the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce (KADIN) and also the ASEAN Investment Forum which was held by the Investment Coordinating Board ( BKPM).

“There will be several other side events, apart from that, which we will convey in the future,” said Usman.
