It was reported that one of the members of Company 1 of Battalion C of the East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Regional Police Mobile Brigade (Polda) unit, Bhayangkara Dua (Bharada) Bonifasius Jawa, 22 years old, was shot dead during a gun battle with KST in Intan Jaya Regency, Central Papua.
The incident occurred in Titigi District, on November 22 2023, at around 12:28 Eastern Indonesian Time (WIT).
The shooting victim was not just one person, but another soldier named Bhayangkara Satu (Bharatu) Rani Seran, 31 years old, was also injured.
Regarding this incident, the Head of the Community Relations Division of the Regional Police (Kabid Humas Polda) of East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), Police Commissioner (Kombes Pol) Ariasandy revealed that the chronology of the NTT Police Mobile Brigade members being shot victims of Papuan KST members started with the Police. Intan Jaya Resort (Polres) and Cartenz Peace Task Force (Satgas) troops are carrying out security in Titigi District, Central Papua at 08:20 WIT.
Security officers from the joint team who were carrying out security suddenly received interference in the form of gunfire at 12:28 WIT which caused everything to end in gunfire.
Separately, the Head of the Public Relations Task Force (Kasatgas Humas) Damai Cartenz, Adjunct Senior Commissioner of Police (AKBP) Bayu Suseno explained that at that time the security forces were indeed going to the location of a 12 year old elementary school (SD) child named Misana Hagisimijau, because he was injured as a result of a mine explosion.
The authorities actually wanted to carry out a crime scene investigation (TKP) there.
Furthermore, currently the Cartenz Peace Task Force team is immediately pursuing the Papuan KST members who were involved in the armed contact.
It is clear that the security forces will immediately take firm action against the groups involved in this action.
Due to the ferocity of the terrorist gang in Bumi Cenderawasih, two soldiers became victims, namely Bharada Bonifasius Jawa who was shot dead during gunfire, then there was also Bharatu Rani Seran who was injured in the same incident.
For information, Bharada Bonifasius himself was shot in the right shoulder and died.
Meanwhile, his colleague suffered a shot in the leg.
Currently, Bharatu Rani is undergoing medical treatment at Sugapa Hospital.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Regional Police (Kapolda) of East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), Inspector General of Police (Irjen Pol) Johni Asadoma said that Boniface Java received an extraordinary promotion from Bharada and then became Bharatu Posthumous.
On the other hand, Bharatu Rani Yohanes Seran also rose two levels from his previous rank to become Adjunct Police Brigadier Two (Abribda).
The promotion given to the two NTT Police Mobile Brigade soldiers who were shot by KST in Intan Jaya, Papua was a form of appreciation for the extraordinary achievements they had achieved in carrying out domestic security duties against separatist and terrorist gangs.
The NTT Regional Police’s Basal Brimo personnel who are still on duty in the easternmost province in the country number up to 105 people.
They will all carry out security duties until December 2023.
However, it turns out that the situation on the ground is very dynamic and changes very quickly so that events like this shooting cannot be predicted.
It should be noted that the body of Bharatu Posthumous Boniface Jawa, who was a member of the NTT Police Mobile Brigade who was the victim of the KST shooting in Intan Jaya, has arrived at El Tari Kupang airport, Kupang City.
The arrival of the body using one of the airlines using the Jakarta-Kupang route arrived at 06:08 Central Indonesian Time (WITA).
The arrival of the body was met by a number of Indonesian National Army (TNI) personnel and members of Brimob in Kupang City and were also greeted with sobs by the victim’s family who were also present to welcome Boniface’s arrival.
After several hours of being buried at Mako Brimob, at 10:00 WITA, the body was sent to his hometown in Soa, Bajawa, Ngada Regency.
All TNI and Polri personnel who were members of the Cartenz Peace Task Force then also aggressively attacked the KST Papua headquarters by chasing, hunting down the perpetrators and also storming their headquarters.
No half-hearted, in fact every time there is a new base, it will immediately be attacked.
This followed an incident where KST Papua carried out shootings, killing members of the NTT Brimob.
The shooting was carried out in Central Papua, which then caused all other security forces to move very quickly to chase the perpetrators.
